When he awoke at six a.m., it was because he felt her at the doorway.
"... Nella, it isn't what it looks like."
She said nothing, but the pointed look in her brown gaze made him carefully untangle himself from the sleeping Emma. His wolf crooned softly, not wanting to part from their mate so soon after having her in his arms again, but Dren knew he could not ignore the woman in the doorway.
The atmosphere was strangely calm considering a girlfriend just found her boyfriend in bed with another woman, but that was only because Antonella had expected this from the moment Dren laid his eyes on Emma at Cyrus' party.
"I can have my things packed and out by tomorrow," she told him as they congregated in the kitchen, a pot of coffee already brewing. Her eyes were one hundred percent serious. "I do not wish to be the obstacle in the way of soulmates."
Dren sighed, his hand coming up to rub his eyes in exasperation. "Can we please talk about this later? I've only slept for three hours and I have a meeting at seven." He dropped his hand from his head, giving her a stern look. "And don't pack your stuff. I'm not planning on leaving you."
Antonella's withering glare told him exactly what she thought about that, but she remained silent out of respect for his approaching busy day and lack of sleep, letting him steal away to his bedroom to get freshened up. When the coffee was done, she poured herself a cup and settled into the breakfast table.
What a foolish man, she thought as she watched him leave for the day, sipping her black coffee languidly. No one cannot deny their mate.

Her head was splitting open. If someone hadn't decided to take a crowbar and crack her skull open, how else would they explain the excruciating headache she woke up with?
Stifling a groan of pain, Emma shifted into a sitting position, clutching her aching head.
What the hell happened?
The room was brightened by the light of the midday sun, not really helping her massive headache as her body slowly adjusted to being awake. She was still in her little white dress from the night before, but it was crumpled and wrinkly from her sleeping in it. The room was completely unfamiliar to her, the sheets pooled at her waist luxuriously soft and cooling. It took a few moments for Emma to regain some semblance of her memories, flashes of the night before coming in short bursts of emotion.
Fear and panic. Relief and happiness. Shock and awe. Helplessness and longing...
... the warmth of being wrapped in Dren's arms.
"Fuck..." she groaned, her head dropped between her bent knees.
"Need a painkiller?"
Her head came up so quickly she gave herself whiplash, wincing and clutching her head at the spike of pain. Antonella was grinning in amusement in the doorway, holding a glass of water and two pills. Emma watched her with wary eyes.
"It's not poison, I promise," she chuckled as she walked in, offering Emma the two items in her hands. It only took another wave of head pain for Emma to give in, sluggishly grabbing the water to wash down the pills. "You should eat some food too," she said, gesturing to the doorway. "I have some sausage and eggs cooking."
"Ah... thanks," Emma said unsurely, feeling like a hot mess. Antonella smiled reassuringly at her.
"Take a second to freshen up. I'll be in the kitchen."
