Chapter 6
**********************************************************
Sun streams in through the open window as I roll over with a groan. I'm exhausted from yesterday even after hours of sleep. I swing my legs over the bed reluctantly trying to wipe sleep from my eyes. I hear footsteps heading down the hall towards me. I roll my eyes as Celia steps into my room wearing training gear. "Dad wants to see you." She says deadpan before turning on her heels and strutting out of the room. I stick my tongue out even though she can't see me and heave myself off the bed. I pad down the hall in a pair of light pants and feel the summer breeze flow on my bare skin from an open window. I breathe in deep through my nose and the smell of grass and flowers hits me like a wave of happiness.
I enter the kitchen to see my father with his eyes closed. I walk closer quietly but still manage to make him open an eye and smile at me. "Silas, I am sending you to pick up Hanns's children." I groan at the thought of having to walk that jerk all the way home. "Now I thought that would be the reaction." My father says with a chuckle "I will give you 5 duchmarks for you to have some fun in town before you pick them up." I smile at my father bribery but take the money. I quickly run back to my room to change into my cloak, boots, gloves, and a shirt. I say quick goodbyes to my mother and sister before staring down the mountain.
I quickly became lost in thought as I entered town. Should I go see her? The prospect of seeing her again almost made me jump out of my skin. But what if she doesn't want to see you? Shut up stupid brain! I continue to weave through people with my head in the clouds until I run straight into someone's back, knocking me on my butt. Crap "I'm so sorry!" I say quickly, looking up at the boy I had just run into, he studied me looking amused with two boys flanking each side. "And just who do you think you are?" he said in a deep voice. I took this one moment to quickly study him. He wore a clean brown shirt with clean gray pants, but he shoes told a different story. They were old and won so that you could see his socks through the toe. He also was tall and muscular with dark hair and eyes. He could sooooo beat me up. "I'm the wizard kid, Silas." Hoping to scare him a little. "And I'm the blacksmith kid, Dietz. In the long run what difference does it make?" he answers me with an evil smirk. I'm in real trouble.
