Welcome back everyone <3

I am currently sick and was also diagnosed with very strong migraines so I need to reduce my computer times a bit. But nevertheless I wanted to continue this story so here is the second chapter!

No worries there will be more, this is not the end. I already apologise for.. well whatever feelings this might wake in you.

Any-hoo..

Have fun, enjoy!

As always, I'm happy about feedback, comments, etc.

XOXO Kusmi

PS: Fiddlesticks is Raine's Palisman, in case anyone did not quite catch that.

The next morning Raine woke up with a sore arm because Eda slept on it the entire night. They carefully lifted her head up and placed her back on the pillow so they could get up and start making breakfast.

They slipped into their slippers and made their way down to the kitchen. It was a bit chilly in their boxers and white shirt but they were sure it would get warmer later the day.

The scent of freshly brewed coffee woke Eda in no time. She got up and went straight down. Her stomach grumbled and screamed for food and coffee. Since she gave up on her cup of appleblood in the morning, the dark brown bean juice was her lifesaver.

She walked up behind her partner and snaked her arms around their waist.

„Morning Rainestorm." She whispered into their ear.

The bard closed their eyes and leaned back into her embrace.

„Mhmm.. morning love." They whispered back.

The couple shared a passionate kiss before the sound of tiny naked children feet interrupted them.

"The beasts have risen" Eda joked before she released her partner.

Raine chuckled and went back to saving the breakfast from burning.

"Morning, my little sweet owlets" Eda embraced her children and showered both of them in kisses. It wouldn't be long until King came downstairs. He usually came right on time when breakfast was ready.

"Mommy! I dreamed that we all went to the beach of the non-boiling sea today" The little boy exclaimed with shining eyes.

The grey-haired witch had to laugh at that. Her kids always wanted to go to the beach but since they were able to actually phrase their wish Eda couldn't ignore it anymore. The truth was, she was plain scared to bring her kids to the beach.

Raine always urged her to be less panic-fueled but since the Belos incident she couldn't help it.

Eda knew that her fear wasn't rational but then again fear usually just wasn't rational, was it?

"Maybe some other time, droplet. your par needs to work and we wouldn't want to go without them, right?" She tried to find an excuse.

Raine played along.

"I want to go as well but your mom is right, I have to work. Maybe we can all go together on the weekend. Besides, you two need to go to pre-school today." The bard scraped the Griffin eggs out of the pan onto some plates.

It wasn't exactly what Eda had in mind but at least it bought her some time. She hated to disappoint her kids but she hated it more when they were unsafe.

After King joined them, the family shared a peaceful breakfast and when they had finished, Raine dressed the twins and went outside with them. Usually they would take King with them as well, but he wanted to walk to school with a friend today.

Just as Raine summoned their staff to fly the kids to pre-school, they noticed some footprints around the house. They weren't in a straight walking line but rather centred as if someone stood there for a bit. the prints weren't really fresh though, so Raine decided not to freak out about it.

At times like these Raine really wished Hooty was home more, but he was usually out and about with Lilith these days.

Just as Raine was about to fly, Eda came out of the door with the twins' backpacks.

"You forgot these." She said smirking. Raine knew she had obviously kept them in the kitchen so she could give them to their children and kiss them goodbye.

"What would we do without you, Calamity." Raine joked and gave her a peck on the cheek. Eda snorted and laughed, only adding a wink as comment.

She helped the twins put on their backpacks and when it was all done, she kissed them goodbye. Raine was glad Eda hadn't noticed the footprints in front of the house because if she did, she probably would've freaked out and asked them to stay.

After the kids joined their pre-school group safely the bard went straight to work. As soon as they walked in, the secretary offered them a cup of coffee and brought them up to date on anything that had happened while they were gone.

Sometimes the mint-haired witch wondered if that woman ever slept. As far es they knew she was always here. Maybe they should offer her a day off sometime soon.

Raine only listened with one ear, while they were drifting off in thoughts. One thing did catch their interest though. A guy, Raine had arrested a while ago, broke out of the Boiling Isles Prison. They made a note to themself to catch up on that story.

"Thanks for catching me up. Why don't you get yourself a cup of coffee or tea and relax for a while. Oh, and while you're at it, choose a date where you want to take a day off, you deserved it." Raine said to their secretary while sitting down in their beloved bard sigil formed chair.

The young woman thanked them a thousand times and asked if it really would be okay. In the end Raine almost had to order her to get some rest.

After working for what seemed like an eternity, some of the security guards rushed in.

"Chief Whispers, sorry to interrupt you..." The tallest of them started to speak.

"No need, what's going on?" They ask, signalling him to continue.

"Well... I am not quite sure how to tell you." The tall man suddenly seemed very small and Raine instantly knew something was very wrong.

"Just say it for Titans sake!" The bard lost their patience. It rarely happened that they got angry but this was important, they knew it.

"Okay, well... It's about your wife... she was..." He said, getting more and more quiet towards the end.

Raine didn't listen to the rest of the sentence. They grabbed their coat and dashed out of the building. They urged Fiddlesticks to fly as fast as he could.

Their heart was pounding so loud it was the only thing they were able to hear. Blood rushing through every vein and artery in record time.

'Not Eda... everything but not Eda. Please, Titan, or anyone who can hear me... please let her be okay.' They prayed again and again in their head.

Raine flew closer to the ground as soon as they were able to see the house. Some security guards were there. They landed and ran past the guards.

"Let me through!" The bard shouted, since they were a lot smaller than the average security guard.

As they walked through the front door, they saw it.

For a moment, time seemed to stand completely still. They tried to steady their breathing.

A single tear rolling down their cheek.
