Raine sat on their staff, on the way to pick up their kids, thinking about the events that had talken place through the day.

The bard was really worried about Eda, especially her behaviour. It was very unusual for her to act like that.

But for now there wasn't much they could do so they tried focusing on gettin their kids home.

After a short flight the mint haired witch arrived at the building that held their kid's preschool. The moment Raine entered, one of the teachers approached them.

„Mx Whispers, I'm glad I was able to catch you" They said.
„Hello, has something happened?" the bard asked, expecting the worst already.
„Well, not really. It's just... your daughter has been telling stories about some creepy man who's following her?"
Raine left out a heavy sigh but just a short moment afterwards realisation hit them. 'What if that man, whoever he is, hurt Eda?!'

The teacher tapped them on their shoulder. „Are you alright Mx Whispers?"
„Oh, yes I'm sorry. I was just thinking about something. I'll talk to Elaine about that man, don't worry."

Soon after the words were spoken the little girl dashed around the corner and right into her par's arms.
„Par!" she shouted „I missed you!"
She dug her little head into Raine's chest gripping their shirt as tight as her tiny hands could.
„Hi droplet, I missed you too." The bard responded and peppered the girl with kisses.
„Where did you leave your brother?" the bard asked the girl while combing through her hair with their hand.
„Aedan is sleeping in the snuggle corner." She stated without any further interest in conversation. Her cheek was pressed against Raine's chest and mere seconds after she was asleep.
'Well... Preschool sure is tough' the bard grinned.

After collecting Aedan from the »snuggle corner« the bard was on their way back home, remembering what awaits them there.
Mid flight they woke the kids. „Listen droplets. Your mummy isn't feeling very well today so I need you to be nicer than usually, today. Can you do that?"
Both kids nodded in unison but wearing concerned faces.
„Is mum sick?" the boy asked with his thumb in his mouth.
„She just had a rough day, sweetheart. I'm sure she'll be alright soon."

As the family reached the owl house Raine spotted a dark figure between the trees. Instantly concerned they urged Fiddlesticks to land faster.

They entered the house and it was all as it should be. Quiet and calm. No signs of a fight or anything out of the ordinary at all. Raine sighed out of relief, finally putting the kids down.

The rest of the day went by rather quick and awkward. Eda still didn't say much. She served dinner and went back to her room. She even locked the door so Raine couldn't enter. They started to wonder wether they did something wrong.
Defeated, the bard came to rest on the couch thinking about every possible explanation for Eda's behaviour. In the end they didn't come up with much and finally fell asleep.

[earlier that day]

Eda locked herself in the room. She knew she couldn't run from Raine for long. They would eventually find out what happened. But she couldn't tell them. Not ever. They'd hate her.
Her thoughts spun faster than a carousel at the carnival.

She was relieved that at least her sister knew what was going on. Lilith was there, right after it happened, just by coincidence her sister walked in and found her in the kitched, sitting in a corner, crying. Her hair a mess, bruised skin, ripped clothes and her entire body shaking.
She made Lilly promise not to tell a soul what happened. Not even Raine, no, especially not Raine.
And Lilith promised. Reluctantly, yes but she did. On the life of her mother to be exact. She never made a promise like that before.

Eda was pulled back into reality by a slight knock on the door. It was her partner. Wondering why she shut them out. And it broke her heart. It broke her to see them suffering, but it would brake her even more for them to know the truth.
So she sat there, quietly waiting for them to go back downstairs.

The once so powerful Owl Lady sat in her nest, crying herself to sleep, hoping somehow she could survive this.
