Michelle woke up to the morning sun, the smell of last night's herbal tea and a book on her chest. She picked up the book and put it on her bed, walked up to the bathroom and brushed her teeth. She took a bath and got dressed to walk to school. She went out to the seemingly empty living room, when she saw a large man dressed in all black, with an eye patch, making her blueberry pancakes for her.
"Morning, my Black Dahlia. How'd you sleep?" Nick Fury, her boss and father, greeted her. "Dad? What are you doing here? Normally it would be Uncle Phil or Uncle Katniss or Aunt Tasha handing in a report for new assignments and waiting to debrief me. How'd you get the time anyways?" She asked, taking a bite from her and humming in content. Fury rolled his eyes at the comment. "So, how's Midtown?" He inquired. "Its good, I got some friends, finally, and I'm the head of AcaDec team. Why you askin'?" She said, narrowing her eyes at her father.
"So, no spider themed vigilantes?" Michelle considered about telling him about her boyfriend, but felt wayy too guilty about betraying her loser's trust. "Nah, no one. This is a nerd school we're taking about. The bullies and the jocks here look like spaghetti," Michelle said, breaking her father's trust. "Alright then, we'll shift to a new school next year (semester). You need to keep trying to find and spy on Spider-Man. S.H.I.E.L.D. needs to find him and know if he's a threat or an asset," he said the words nonchalantly, taking a bite of his own pancake, as if he didn't just shatter MJ's world.
"WHAT?!?!? I finally have friends my age and don't have to hang out with boring old people and YOU'RE TAKING THAT AWAY FROM ME!!!" She tried to be as calm as possible, but was failing a little. "Michelle, you are not a normal teen, you are a spy and my daughter, so-" Fury said but was cut off by his daughter, "No, you can't do that, you can't use the daughter card on me because, like a father would do, you weren't there when mama died and I fucking needed you the most. So don't tell me what to do!!!" She said, calm anger radiating off of her, tears filling up in her eyes.
She picked up her bag, and ran towards Midtown Science and Technology -her father calling after her- panting and nearly breaking down. She felt as if she had been betrayed by her own kin, which she had been. She felt pained, as if she could never be able to see Ned and Peter, ever again. She stopped a few metres away from school, on the corner shop. She looked into its window and set down her slightly disheveled hair, smoothed out her crinkled clothes, and wiped her tears. She put on her slightly monotone face to greet her friends.
She walked a little more to the school entrance and huffed out a breath. She wasn't going to be here after her finals, which were in about three months. She had to leave her secret boyfriend and best friend in three months. Michelle really didn't know what she was going to do if she actually had to leave them forever and never be able to contact them again.
She took a step into the school, went past the grounds and into the hallways. Right as she opened the doors, she heard everyone squealing in delight. Words like 'who is it gonna be?' & 'I'm so excited' were heard across the hallways. She made her way to Peter and Ned's lockers. And when she saw Peter from far away, rambling happily to Ned, she felt butterflies take the place of the sadness in her stomach.
"Hey losers, what's up?" She greeted her best friends. "Hey, did you know that there's a surprise celebrity coming to school at lunch?" Ned said, excitement radiating off of him. He was literally bouncing off the walls. "Huh," she scoffed, "Who d'you think its gonna be?" "I hope it's Taylor Swift, I really wanna meet her. I love her. Ooh, or Conan Gray, or Olivia Rodrigo, better yet HARRY STYLES, god I want a One Direction reunion," Ned answered, muttering the last part. Peter laughed, throwing his head back like little kid. Ned joined in & MJ smiled. This was one the last moments that she would get with her secret boyfriend best friends. She cherished moments like these inside, as the flood of reality was bound to come, drowning her any moment. "Ned, as much as I would love to meet all these people, especially Taylor, I'm pretty sure it's someone who's made some kind of contribution to the science world as we —and I'm quoting Mr. Stark here— are from the 'Nerd School," Michelle laughed at that and said, "Well, at least I won't be saying I'm studying in the Nerd School anymore," shit, why do I use humour as a coping mechanism?? "What the HELL do you MEAN by that????" Peter said, surprised at the out of the blue news drop. "I mean that I'm changing schools," Michelle said, a cloud of gloom hanging over the trio's head. Ned was literally rendered speechless. They were looking at each other sadly, communicating with eyes for more than what a thousand words could say. The bell rung as the signal for the final warning for first period starting, snapping the sad trio out of their thoughts. "I have AP Coding and you guys have AP Chem, so I gotta go," said Ned gloomily as he walked away.
