I WISH I WAS ENOUGH - CHAPTER 4
Something slobbery and sticky slapped against my face multiple times. The smell of a donkey's ass filled my nostrils, and I almost choked out a gag as I swatted my face. What the heck was that? My eyes were shut and my body was in a deep slumber. Maybe it was just a part of my dream. Yup, totally a dream.
After my dad gave me a quick tour around the house, I made it my mission to steer away from his neighbor's dog to call my mother and Aaliyah. It didn't come as a shock to me that my mother and I's conversation on the phone didn't last longer than five minutes. But what shocked me was that she asked about my dad and to see if I was holding up alright. I confirmed that I was still breathing and well, and then we ended the conversation as she got a business call from her boss. She hadn't told me anything bad about her new job or what the new city felt like. But honestly, I didn't care. Less time with her meant more time to chat with Aaliyah. Aaliyah and I spent the night on FaceTime, and I even had a chance to show her the house. She was more excited to see that I had a pool and a jacuzzi.
A pool and a freaking jacuzzi! Like seriously! Where does my dad get all of this money to buy these beautiful things? I was completely astonished, yet it was highly motivating.
This house is gorgeous, even Aaliyah said so.
But I was not too fond of the fact that dad decided to babysit his neighbor's dog. That dog seems to bark like crazy; even now, it feels as if I can hear her hollering cries. And she sounds pretty close too.
Whoa, wait. Is she in my room?
My eyes immediately fly open just as the large white animal strides to me and take a lick at my face.
I leaped upright as quickly as possible, and my hands viciously attacked my face, trying my best to remove her nasty saliva off my face. "Ew! No! Bad dog! That's gross!" I groaned, my teeth somehow gnawed into my gum and I winced in pain immediately after. "Crap!" I cursed. I have this giant beast attacking me, and now I have to deal with a busted gum.
"Bleu!" I heard my dad hollering in the distance. My door opened and he was covered in paint from head to toe. The red color around his eyes doesn't cover the creases formed once he looks at the situation at hand. "There you are!" He bent down and allowed her to lick his hand. I shuddered at that jester, as I could only recall her placing her tongue on my skin just moments ago.
"I see you've been trying to get Brook awake, haven't you, girl?" He's rubbing her fur and coaxing her as I cringe and wiped any reside of her off my face.
I needed to cut this dog romance out and get her out of here. Bleu was drooling over my carpet.
"Dad," I whined, not loud enough to gain his attention, apparently because he was still letting her lick him. "Hello? Dad!" I hollered, and he d his hand at me.
"I bet you didn't even thank Bleu for waking you up this morning," He said.
Disgust was sprawled over my face. Yeah, I'm going to reward a dog for spilling her nasty drool all over my face. Yup, totally thankful! Groaning louder at him, I removed the duvet from my body and stretched while he shuffled Bleu out of the room, appearing to be also taking his leave.
