Mission Status: It has been four days since the Scramble Squads discovered the newly named planet 'Jellynosis.' Since arriving, Coper, Scortch and Pappy have made numerous trips to the planet's surface, exploring and documenting their findings. Having already discovered the planet's surface is a stretchy and flexible material, the team moved on to identifying the planet's lifeforms.
On their fourth day, the squadron hadn't made any outstanding discoveries. "So far, we can establish the flora is made of a similar substance to the planet. There are few 'plants', being only round dark purple lumps on the ground and tree-like structures." Coper, speaking to himself, was thoroughly exploring the plant matter around. Scortch was behind him, lazily lying on his back. Pappy had been trying to help Coper, but got distracted, and wandered off. Coper turned to look at Scortch, "It is strange, however, that we have not encountered any animal life." Scortch rolled over off his back and opened his eye to look at him. "Maybe it's just one of those uninhabitable places. I can't imagine something living off of the weird plants growing here."
"Hey, guys!" Pappy yield."I found a hole!
Coper and Scortch looked over to where Pappy was screaming, and they saw a large chasm behind him. They both walked over to get a better view. The pit was incredibly deep and dark. The walls of the hole were a dark purple and lined with ridges and spikes. While Coper stared down into the abyss, Scortch had a worried look. "I hadn't noticed that before. Was it here yesterday?" Pappy shrugged. "I don't know, but it's here now! Should we explore it? Do a little spelunking!" They stayed still thinking for a moment. How safe would it be to go exploring an unknown cave?
While they were debating their exploration, the ground began to shake. It was slow at first, barely noticeable. But the force of the quaking kept increasing and the already loose surface of the planet was shaking violently. The elastic plants were also shaking uncontrollably. All three Eggnots tried to keep their balance, but they all fell on their fronts. In a panic, Scortch had gotten Pappy and Coper to huddle together. It took at least thirty seconds before the quaking completely stopped. Nothing seemed to be damaged, and their ship stationed a mile away was untouched. As for the crew, they were unharmed.
The Eggnots didn't move at first.
Their eyes were closed tight in their small huddle. Coper lifted his head from the group and looked at their surroundings; the small round plants, the tree-like structures, and the large pit in front of them. "Everybody alright? No one was hurt?" Scortch and Pappy nodded. They all took a minute to compose themselves. Pappy looked shocked for only ten seconds before he smiled. "We're all good! What a rush!" It was incredible how even after such a scary ordeal, Pappy still had a smile on his face.
"This planet has quacks? Interesting. Even if we can not find any other signs of life, at least we learned the planet has seismic activity."
Pappy didn't seem to hear what Coper was saying and stood there lost in his thoughts with his back turned to the pit.
