Chapter 5 - favour??

It was four days till Christmas Eve and the shop had been really busy. You were having a hard time keeping up with it all. Your cafe has been completely full of Hogwarts students, a few tourists and some of your everyday customers. Your friends were all gone on holidays so you couldn't ask them for help. And you can't use magic for all of it because it takes up too much energy and you prefer to do things by hand. 

There was only one option. You were going to have to ask Severus for help. I don't want to bother him with this though. He's probably busy with other things. Your head was aching and your legs were sore. All your social energy was gone and you had just resorted to nodding, smiling and waving. You didn't really have much choice, you couldn't do it alone. You sighed. Let's hope he won't mind helping.

As per usual, Severus stopped by the cafe later that night for his daily cup of coffee. He was always there right at closing time so that he could avoid other people. 

 You both sat down in the corner by the fireplace. How am I going to ask this? What if he says no?  ' Is everything okay Y/n? You seem troubled by something.' He said while petting Charlie. You glanced at him 'Actually Severus I have a favour to ask...'

He looked at you. 'What is the favour?' You let out a shaky exhale. He looked at you. 'You don't have to be nervous, I'm happy to help with anything you need.' You looked at him and nodded. 'Since it's so close to Christmas the cafe is really busy. It's been really hard to manage on my own. Usually I would ask one of my other friends to help me out but they're all on holidays this year. So I was wondering if you would mind helping me out for a few days.' He was staring at you. You quickly directed your gaze to the fireplace. 'You don't have to.  But if you do want to I would only ask you to help in the back with the baking. You wouldn't have to socialise at all.'

You kept looking at the fireplace. Afraid he might get mad or reject your favour. 'I'll do it.' You looked up at him. 'Really? You don't mind?' He shook his head. 'It's the least I could do, consider this my way of repaying you for the kindness you've shown me.' You smiled and hugged him. You felt his warm breath hit your neck as he hugged you back and put his head in the crook of your neck. 'Thank you so much Severus. You have no idea how much this will help me.' He hummed as a response.

You two sat next to each other on the couch for a while, you were snuggled up to him under a blanket by the fireplace with Charlie asleep on your lap. Severus suddenly spoke. 'What time should I come in tomorrow?' You looked at him. 'It's up to you. The shop opens around eight thirty, so maybe around eight? You wouldn't attract attention and you can leave again once the shop closes if you want to.' He glanced down at you and nodded. 'Sounds good.' You grinned and snuggled up closer to his chest.

You walked him to the door. 'So, eight is a good time for you? If it's too early you can come in later.' You suggested to him as he grabbed his coat. He looked at you. 'I'll come at eight and leave once the shop closes, don't worry it'll be fine.' You sighed and nodded. He gave you a quick hug and opened the door. 'See you tomorrow Y/n.' He said with a small smile. You returned the smile and waved him goodbye as he left the shop.

As you lay in bed that night the thought of Severus clouded your mind. When did we become so close? It feels like we've been friends for years. You sighed and turned to your side. You thought back to how he looked wrapped in Christmas lights with that cute pout on his face. Or when he had his hair tied up while helping you cook. Giddiness filled you as you squealed and kicked your legs with happiness and hugged your pillow. Oh Merlin, I am so very gay. You really did love Severus. It was like love at first sight. That night he had come into your coffee shop you had instantly fallen for him. You had come to care for him more than you ever thought you could care for a person. You wondered if he cared for you the same way or if he thought of you as just a friend he saw at the end of the day when he was done with his daily tasks. You let out a sigh. Whatever, I have to sleep.
