The school was buzzing with talk about the new student. Especially because the new student was joining halfway through the semester. Ember sat next to her girlfriend watching as she quickly typed on her computer. Enid always had Ember proof read her writing before posting it. "Enid" Ember sighed playing with the girls colorful hair. "Cmon it our last night before you get your new roommate" Enid frowned at her words.
Ember would alternate between sneaking into her partners dorms. It was rare that Ember would ever be sleeping in her actual dorm. But she couldn't lie, she slept better when in their arms. Enid closes her computer pushing it onto her desk before laying down next to Ember. She wrapped her arms around her and kissed her head "I love you" Ember smiles "And I love you" but of course, their peace could never last long. The door was shoved open "Hey! tonight's my night" Ajax pouted. "Ajax, I told you I would be with Enid tonight" Ember says "She gets her new roommate tomorrow, it's our last night alone"
"But that messes up the whole schedule" Xavier walks into the room. It was as if they all had a sixth sense when it came to her. "Well sucks to suck" Enid shoved them out of her room shutting and locking the door.
Ajax had his arm wrapped around Ember's waist as he talked to his friends about the new student "I hear she ate the kids she killed" he gossiped, Ember smiles at her boyfriend acting like a schoolgirl. "Looks there's Enid, we should go warn her" Ajax said to his girlfriend before pulling her over to her other partner. "Yo, Enid! You're not gonna believe the dirt I heard about your new roommate" Ajax calls out as they approach the girl "Mon chaton " Ember smiles pulling the girl into a quick kiss. "She eats human flesh. Totally chowed down on those kids she murdered; you better watch your back" Enid purses her lips at his rant before moving to reveal the girl standing behind her. Ember gasps moving to slip into Ajax's shadow, but his grip tightens pulling her back next to him, if he was gonna die, he wasn't going to alone. " Quite the contrary. I actually fillet the bodies of my victims, then feed them to my menagerie of pets" Wednesday taunts.
"Ajax, Emmy, this is my new roommate, Wednesday" Enid chuckles awkwardly "Whoa. You're in black and white. Like a living Instagram filter" Ajax gawks at Wednesday. Enid looks horrified before shoving him away. Ember decides to stay with Enid sending a kiss to Ajax who pretends to catch it. Cheesy. "Ignore him. Gorgons spend way too much time getting stoned. He's cute, but clueless" the girlfriends hands slip into each other's. "It's a small school. There wasn't much online about you. You should really get on Insta, Snapchat and TikTok" Enid continues to rant "I find social media to be a soul-sucking void of meaningless affirmation" Wednesday deadpans at her. Ember purses her lips nodding. "So have you gotten your schedule" Wednesday looks at her before handing her the paper. "We have 1,4, and 7 period together" she hands Wednesday her schedule back "I could show you the classes if you'd like" Enid tightens her grip on Ember's hand while clenching her teeth.
"I think i'll manage" Wednesday turns down her offer turning to walk away but she stops and turns to face Ember "But thanks" she turns and quickly walks away. "Calm down Enid" Ember teases pulling away from the girl and walking back over to Ajax, only to have Enid trail behind her like a lost puppy. Ajax dramatically pulls Ember into his arms upon seeing her "I missed you" "We were apart for two minutes, Jax" "So?"
It was fencing class, Ember was partnered up with Xavier "Babe please this is looking really bad for me" Xavier frowned. He had lost to her about four times already. "It's not my fault you suck so bad" Ember pouts mockingly "Please, i'll make it up to you" Xavier begs walking closer to her while taking off his mask. She copies him "Oh yeah?" "Mhm" just as their lips were about or touch she stops "No" she puts her mask back on moving to her position. Ember stops seeing Wednesday enter the room, her suit was all black, Ember looks down to her own fully purple suit and lets a airy laugh.
Ember makes a face when Rowan falls to the ground and rushes over to help him up. "Coach! Coach! she tripped me" Rowan pleads as he lets Ember help him up. The coach deadpans him "It was a clean strike Rowan" Ember grabs his glasses from the bench and hands them to him. "Maybe if you whined less and practiced more, you wouldnt suck" Bianca shrugs mockingly. Ember and Bianca had a complicated relationship, they never did anything to each other personally but Bianca blamed Ember for Xavier leaving her and Ember detested the way Bianca treated people.
"Seriously coach when am I gonna get some real competition" she sighs "Anyone else wanna challenge me?"
"I do" the class stops and is now watching the scene. Bianca turns "Oh" she looks Wednesday up and down with a fake smile "You must be the psychopath they let in" Ember grimaces with wide eyes and moves away from them, standing next to Xavier.
"And you must be the self appointed queen bee" Bianca nods with arrogance "Interesting fact about bees, pull out their stingers and they drop dead" Wednesday doesn't miss a beat. Ember looks at Xavier trying to hide a smile as the class Ooh's watching as Bianca's smirk falls.
"Rowan doesn't need you to come to his defense, he's not helpless" her eyes switch to Ember making it clear she was talking about her actions earlier. "Lazy" she spits.
"Our we doing this or not" Wednesday cut her off. Bianca tilts her head to accept.
"Point Wednesday" Ember watches in anticipation, silently rooting for Wednesday.
"The score is even" the teacher announces. They takes off their hoods "That first point was clearly beginner's luck" Bianca taunts. "Let's finish this" they circle each other. "For the final point, I would like to invoke a military challenge. No masks. No tips" the class breaks out in whispers.
"There's no way" Ember mumbles. "Winner draws first blood" All eyes are on Bianca. "It's your decision, Bianca"
"Let's see if you bleed in black and white" Bianca tosses her mask to the side. Ember grabs onto Xavier's hand in excitement as the rapier tip slices. The class gasps at Wednesday doing a cartwheel but eventually Bianca slices her forehead "Your face finally got that splash of color it so desperately needed"
