------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sidewalk paved to being a hero was often paved with bricks. Even amounts of bricks all spread out in a nice line. All leading to somewhere. And often just like the path to being a hero, it had its bricks that just loved to trip you up.

And that's how Izuku had ended up almost dying before the UA entrance exam.

Dying is a bit of a stretch but well Izuku was in a dramatic mood.

He had to eat hair that tasted familiar to hair spray, and for some reason, lemons?

And to suddenly start falling over, thinking about All Might's hair spray (Izuku was a fanboy but not that much of a fanboy) he of course, like every logical person, started freaking out. Petrona had even darted forwards to catch the boy. But just before she could he was saved by a brunette with brown eyes. Who stared at him with her arm out. She gave him a grin as she pulled him back to his feet, using the yellow strap of his backpack.

"I'm sorry for using my quirk on you like that!" She said sweetly, "I just assumed you wouldn't mind!"

"Oh! Yeah, Really I don't mind." He said with a smile. He was still suspended in air until she placed the tips of her finger together and mumbled the word,

"Release."

Izuku's center of gravity returned to him and he landed gently on the floor. The brunette then glanced behind Izuku and smiled.

"Alright! I'll cya around!" She said as she ran off, her footsteps ringing around the main entrance as they slowly faded and disappeared. Izuku watched as she disappeared into the school, turning to look at Petrona with a shaky smile on his face.

"I thought-..." His voice trailed off as he stared at Petrona, her teeth were bared in a snarl, her smile still curved at the tips of her lips. He had never seen her teeth but they were razor sharp, similar to that of a shark.  "...I thought... that was nice." He said timidly. Although his words grew much quieter. "W-what did I-i do?" He said, staring at her face. Her face morphed, to the point where her smile disappeared, her entire mouth in fact was gone. And one singular eye stared at him. Bearing down on him, his anxiety began to spike, goosebumps erupted onto his skin, even when it wasn't cold. There wasn't a breeze even stirring the leaves on the trees.

"You disappointed me." She said darkly, the voice emanating from her throat, echoing in his ears. Her purple face became a black void, crimson red pooled from the sides of the eye. He took a few steps back in pure terror.

"I don't even know what I did!" He shouted at her in pure terror. He fell back onto the concrete, his tailbone ached. Petrona started to float towards him.

"I don't want you building connections with people.. Izuku." She said, her voice darkening. His ears rang as her voice seemed to bounce around in his skull. "People are liabilities, Izuku." She said, in some part of Izuku's brain he began to build up an argument, but he held his tongue. "People will only hurt you, they will use you. There is only one person you need to trust, Izuku. And that is me. I am the one trying to help you. I am the one trying to guide you."

She's only trying to help me. His brain was justified. She's a friend that I can trust.

Suddenly Petrona yelled something and the blackness that clouded the corners of his vision pulled back. Revealing a purple haired boy holding his hand out to Izuku.
