I blinked my eyes a few times, trying to adjust to the bright sunlight that shined through the large windows. I looked around, taking inventory of my surroundings. Rows of beds with a little divider by each one. From what I could hear, the room was mainly empty, except for me and the woman walking around anxiously. I say up and scanned some more. The small tables next to me had flowers, a few cards, and some boxes I can only assume it was chocolate. I saw the nurse, she had stopped pacing and stood over a table. I can hear her pouring liquid into a cup, she then turned towards me and smiled.
"I thought you were awake; I sent an owl to your mother and she suggested I give you this instead of wiggenweld potion. " She tried to hide her disgust behind a smile as she hands me the cup.
"What is it?" I raised my brows. "I don't want to drink it if it's that gross to you."
"Well for me it's a bit...odd. But she insisted it would help you." She forced a smile.
"Well okay then, bottoms up I guess." I groaned. I didn't even smell it, I didn't want my nose to talk me out of it. I closed my eyes and started to chug it.
Once the liquid hit my tongue, my eyes shot open. I couldn't place the taste exactly, it was sweet, but then again, hot, not spicy, just hot. I savored the taste. My whole body sprang to life. I didn't realize how much it ached until everything came to a screeching halt. My veins no longer rubbed together like sandpaper but glided effortlessly as my heart pumped blood through my body. The sunlight no longer hurt my eyes, they adjusted. I could see the specs of dust dancing in the rays. I finished the cup, licking my lips, the sweet taste still lingering. I haven't blinked yet.
"She wasn't kidding." The Nurse spoke. "That did perk you right up. You're no longer pale and sickly."
"W-What was that?" I finally met her eyes.
"Blood." She said flatly.
My eyes widened. "Where did you get it?"
"I have some on hand in case there's a dire need. " She cleaned up her little station.
"How long was I out for?" I ran my fingers through my knotted hair.
"Almost two weeks, you took quite the hit. Your cousins said you got into an argument with another student, Sebastian Sallow. You both took a few good hits." She frowned. Did I hit him that hard? "I'll work on your discharge papers. Your friends and cousins came by every day and left you cards and gifts, take a look at them. " She smiled. She strutted away to her office closing the door. I sighed and looked over at the small stack of cards.
Amara,
Get well soon, my Mother and I both worry about you. She feels you carry too much. You have friends to lean on when your burdens become too much, don't forget that.
Your Friend,
Natty
Denista,
I wish you a speedy recovery. Tryouts are soon and I'd like to see you on a broom, the only real competition I have at this school.
Quidditch Captain,
Imelda
Amara,
I heard you got into a tiff with another student. I always thought you were tough, and you continue to prove it! I hope to see you in Potions Class more, maybe even grab a butterbeer sometime. Send me an owl.
