Queen Of Hawkin High ; November 2022Eddie shivers a little as he moves and carefully lifts his foot over a large tree root that poked itself out from the ground. Somehow still tripping over it as he walks, shuffling forward to catch his balance. His nose was a bit red from where the cold air nipped. The temperature was only going to drop more the closer December came, the first snow flakes had just fallen the other day not yet sticking to the ground yet. This was a bit alarming to everyone. If Eddie Munson the man currently wearing three layers of clothes on, his shirt, his button down flannel and leather coat was still cold then how was Steve Harrington feeling. If he was even out here, Eddie pitied him. A feeling that didn't come lightly, especially for a jock. Who he barely knew anything about. What he did know he didn't like, including the fact that no one knew where he was. The main reason why a search party had been created to begin with.
Now, Eddie wouldn't have volunteered at all without a bit of pressure from Chrissy. A newfound friend that had just broken up with Jason Carver a couple of days ago. Jason Carver as in the supposedly next Steve Harrington. Of course there was Billy Hargrove, who would be snatching the throne now that Steve was missing. A dumbass who couldn't get his head out of his ass even if it killed him. Besides Chrissy, Wayne had also been determined about going into the woods as well. This entailed not very subtle hints sent to Eddie about joining him. Eddie only realized that he had no option in this when Wayne brought him gloves to wear. They were now fingerless, ruining the entire purpose of what they were intended for but still covering Eddie's palms. As much as it made him sound like a dick, he was not out here for Steve Harrington. He was out here for his Uncle, Wayne Munson. A man that worried more then anyone he's ever met. With this entire situation it only made the man's hair (what was little left) to grey faster.
Now Eddie had logical reasons for why he didn't want to be out here with everybody else. For one he was, if not the only person in this group who was not born and raised in these woods growing up. He was from Texas and didn't move up here until he was ten, by then he already found that he had not interest in nature but rather staying cooped up in his room doing something. The thought of exercise at such a young age made him nearly loose hair faster then his Uncle. Now as he walked, spaced out from everybody else his brain was telling him that they weren't going to find Steve Harrington out here. It would be strange for a Grade A jock who was constantly on a jogging trail to suddenly just forget how to get home. Better yet, to get hurt on the trail so bad that he couldn't make it home. The only people that ever got lost in these woods were travelers coming through or newcomers who just moved into town. There were no cases of a home grown Hawkins residence getting lost in these woods. This search party was hanging on the loose strands of people's hope, that had been getting in the way of Logic ever since Steve Harrington's disappearance was announced to the public. And Eddie didn't want to be a part of any of it. Much rather stay at home and watch this mystery unfold in front of him not around him. That was one of the reasons why he liked conspiracy theories. He was so detached from them that they didn't even feel real. Just goofy stories you would hear around a campfire from an older gentleman that had a few screws loose but was on to something.
He (like most) had started to slow down and stopped looking so hard. The energy of wanting to help had barely been there when him and his Uncle had first gotten there, now it was as real as a flying pig. Not sure how long they were going to keep grasping at straws Eddie's eyes move over and land themselves on his Uncle. Who was always fifteen feet away from him checking a strip of land out. Because of this Eddie hadn't been as worried about getting lost. Knowing if he took a wrong step, (like the dumbass he was) his uncles guiding hand would lead him back to the right path. Like it had numerous times in the past. Literally and metaphorically.
