A/n: Hi! The chapters will most likely get shorter from now on, mostly because I can release them faster so you guys won't have to wait as long and also because those previous chapters are just too long to be read like one chapter- T-T
The ride in the car was quiet, but you could tell that Eryk and Kevin all had one thought on their mind, 'what in the hell was that?' You couldn't blame them either. If you were in their shoes, you'd think the exact same thing. "Please tell me one of you is playing some kind of joke" Eryk says as they drive, keeping their terrified eyes on the road. The car stays silent, denying Eryk's claim that one of you we're playing a joke. The hellish silence covers every inch of the car, it's suffocating... The entire ride home was like this, aside from the occasional whistle or any other kind of vocal tic from Toby, it made the car ride a little better. It gave you a break from the silence, though it didn't last long. You were still left alone with nothing but your thoughts. It went on for what felt like hours, but it was probably only a couple of minutes. You're all dropped off by Eryk and go your separate ways.
You start walking to your house until you feel Toby's hand grab your forearm tightly. His grip is pretty strong for someone so skinny. "What?" I ask, slightly annoyed by Toby not letting me go. He pulls me closer and looks me in the eye "what the fuck I-Is w-wrong with you?" He asked, clearly more than a little pissed at you, "You're the entire reason that we even saw that thing today, you didn't have to go but you did, and then lied, sa-aying it was safe to drag me along with y-you!" Toby said as his grip around your arm tightened. 'That's gonna leave a bruise' you thought. "I did think it was safe, I'm sorry I made a fuckin' mistake with that thing. Plus all it did was stare at us! You're overreacting!" You responded to Toby, matching his level of anger with your bitchy attitude. "O-o-overreacting?! Are you kidding me?! We b-both have no idea what this thing even wants!" Toby said, spite dripping from his words. "Then how about we stop standing around and find out what it wants?!" You retorted. Returning all of Toby's spite straight back at him. "Y-yeah, b-b-before we go out in the woods with no way of protecting ourselves!" Toby says between his tics. "Fine! We'll find out together!" You yell back before walking back to my house, not even waiting for Toby to respond
You open the door to your house, your mom sits on the couch, watching tv. "Hey, how was your first day at school?" She says with a fake smile like this isn't said with actual care but instead because she has to. "It was fine." You respond, only out of the necessity to give her an answer. A great way to describe your relationship with your mother was one forged out of necessity. You only talked to her when you needed to, she barely tried to have any kind of motherly relationship with you either. So why should you? To be honest, what difference would it make if you truly knew your mother or not? Not a big one and certainly not a large enough one for you to care.
You head for your room before you hear your mom yell "get your chores done first! And do them well, this house should shine and sparkle!" You sigh, and put your stuff by your bed and then do your chores, letting yourself get lost in your thoughts as you do
