I live a pretty simple life,Nice house,Beautifal Wife. But everything changed the Day I went to Vietnam.

It happened on February 2nd 1968 when I got the letter. Saphira (My wife) came to me with tears in her eyes, "You're being drafted?" she chocked back tears and her eyes were glassy. "I have to go fight,No one else is." I said coldly. If only I had known what my gun-ho attitude would do to me 1 year later. The next day I was sent off to boot camp. My ass got kicked,I was enlisted into the SOG and deployed to Vietnam. Family wasn't too happy but who cares,I was going off to do what I knew was right.

1 month into my tour was boring as all Hell. Nothing ever happened until one night when a bomb went off and killed 3 men then NVA rushed our Forward Operating Base. We all rushed to the machine gun nest and opened fire but it was too late,Several men had huge holes in them from the NVA machine guns. I watched as good men lost their lives and watched as my faith in God faded. My friend from boot camp nick-named "Mason" because of his families religious ties had his head blown off by a Sniper. If I could recall anything more terrible than that it would be the Napalm strikes I had seen done onto villages,When it would light it would begin to burn and cook them like a Barbeque. These Memoir's aren't some old glory dogs claim to fame. These are to show what War is. War is a Hell that you stay safe from as you lay in your comfy bed at night. War is the thing you can never hope to comprehend. These Memoir's are to tell all those who think that War is nothing but glory dogs seeking fame,To shut up about what you don't know.
