ABOUT: WPIndigenous' Am I Enough? Diversity Character Design Contest is a character design contest (including writing, art, or another medium you'd like to present) open to everyone. Focusing on the diverse experiences of people all across the world, we want to remind everyone that they belong, they're beautiful, and they're enough.
For this challenge, we're asking you to create a character following one (or more) of the prompts below. Whether it be a character analysis, a short story showcasing character qualities and development, or even just a drawing that gives a run-down of your OC, we want you to create a unique character that represents diversity and feeling enough. (We have included some examples at the bottom of this page.)
DETAILS & CRITERA:
No matter what prompt(s) you pick, please state which prompt(s) you're following at the beginning of your story. You do not to include the image or text that goes with your prompt, please treat it as inspiration! Please submit your character in only one chapter -- you can place your character in its own book or a book you already have, but please be sure to specify the chapter in your form if you place your character in a book with other chapters.
No fanfiction. Your character can be inspired by other characters or even real people, but please make sure you make your character identifiably your own.
All submissions will be judged on creativity, digestibility, how well it follows the theme of "diversity and feeling enough," and overall character design. Creativity = Is your character/writing original? Is it unique? Is interesting and keeping your audience engaged? Digestibility = Is your character/story easy to understand? Does the punctuation/grammar hinder or enhance the reader's ability to understand your story? Does the overall character/story make sense? Diversity and feeling enough = Does your character feel enough by the end of your entry? Is your character diverse? Is your character 3 dimensional & well-designed? Does your character give off the right vibe? Overall character design = Does your character come together well? Is it high quality? Does it score well in other aspects of judging?
Your character/story can fit into any genre except fanfiction.
You may submit an unlimited amount of characters. However, each character must be filled out as their own submission (no submitting multiple at once, please submit them all individually).
We only accept work published on Wattpad (no Google documents or any other formats).
Submissions are open until 11:59pm PST on June 14th, 2023.
