Chapter 4

Y/n's POV

You were getting prepared to go to final selection, and you had to admit, you were nervous. Even though you were the goddess princess, it still reached you a little bit.

You walked into the main room to see Muichiro staring out of the window, looking at the clouds with an emotionless expression, as always. You chuckled lightly at his casual behaviour before telling him you were ready.

He looked at you,
" Be safe,"

You nodded, ignoring the sickly feeling in your stomach before disappearing into the trees outside. Muichiro may be an emotionless teenager, but deep within his cold heart, a spark lit up when he met you. He cares for you in more way than one, and to see you walk off for Final Selection made his heart pound in worry.

//////————//////

You arrived at Final selection to see beautiful trees of wisteria flowers. There were many slayers with scars and angry faces, making you wonder what they went through to get to this stage

Soon, after the small gathering, final selection began and you had to survive 7 days in the woods full of demons. You should be okay since Muichiro taught you well, and you were practically immortal. The only way to kill a god or goddess is for them to give their immortality willingly.

You killed multiple demons during your first few days of being there, which wasn't amusing since you could sense their human presence within, even though it wasn't visible or to be seen.

You sighed heavily as you sat in a tree, watching as the sun emerged from the hill side. It was your 6th day in final selection, meaning tomorrow was your last day before you have successfully completed this test.

You felt a familiar presence beside you to see your childhood friend, Daichi. You never knew where he came from, but he was a spirit. He was around your age from the looks, but he claims he's over a thousand years old. His sister, who only appears when something bad is going to happen, is the spirit of nature.

He, however, is the spirit of all the elements. His hair was long and black with red highlights to symbolise fire. His eyes were ocean blue, symbolising water. His kimono was white and grey, symbolising air and he wore rock bracelets for earth.

He chuckled with a grin,
" I see you've finally done something about your royalty, in honesty, I wasn't expecting this,"

You smiled in response as he ruffled your hair,
" I'm proud of you,"

You leant into his touch with a proud smile as you watched the sunrise together. You noticed how the sunlight had gone through him slightly, making him look translucent and see through.

He grabbed a branch before a light, green glow emerged from underneath his hand. The branch began to grow and extend before a bunch of apples grew out of nowhere. He picked one of the branch before handing it to you.

" Eat. You must be starving,"

You thanked him before eating the apple, feeling how your stomach craved for the food. He couldn't help but chuckle at the stars that were visible in your eyes.

You asked,
" What brings you here anyways? "

" Can I not check up on an old friend?"

He responded in a playful tone, making you roll your eyes playfully. You shoved some apples in your pocket before jumping down from the tree, Daichi sook followed.

He hummed in thought,
" Since it's your last day tomorrow, don't you think you need a bit of luxury?"

He clapped his hands, a faint glow emerged them as he placed them on the floor. The earth began to move as parts of it rose. That's when you realised he was making you a tent made of rock.

When it was made, he made long grass appear on the floor so it felt more comfortable and added wisteria inside and out to chase away the demons. He smiled at you like a little kid wanting their parent to acknowledge their work.

You thanked him with a happy smile before going in, loving how much space you had. The grass made the ground softer in a way and the wisteria made it smell nice.

You looked up at Daichi,
" What would I do without you?"

He grinned,
" I think you know the answer to that,"

He placed his hand on the tree beside you tent before making more apples grow from the tree, enough to fill you up for two weeks.

He sighed,
" That should help you with food. My sister is calling me, I better leave. I'll see you some time,"

You nodded before saying your goodbyes, he then disappeared into thin air. You took your haori of and used it as a pillow, deciding to take a nap. You can't sleep during the night because you didn't know when a demon was going to come or not. The day time is the only time you can sleep fully.

You closed your eyes, the scent of wisteria filled your senses, before you fell into a deep slumber. A slumber that you really needed from all the physical exercise.

///////———————///////

You had finally finished Final Selection, which was a relief. You had picked the metal you wanted for your sword, and had gotten an eagle as your messenger bird, before making your way back to the Mist Estate.

It had taken you at least 3 hours to finally arrive there, not to mention your body aches like mad.

                   //////———-////

Muichiro had been continuously worrying for your safety, which wasn't normal for him. Despite his emotionless expression, he still can't help but worry from within. He began to question himself at why he was suddenly feeling emotions. Usually, he wouldn't feel any emotions.

He stared at the pathway were you left from, hoping that you would return. You didn't. His hands began to sweat from panic as he rubbed his hair backwards. And yet, through all of this, he still remained an emotionless expression.
