Dear Caroline,
Someone read your letter first before it reach it to you. The annoying guy I met yesterday, he was sitting the chair in front of me without asking for my permission—well he did ask me, but he didn't wait for my answer! I was thinking if I will share with him my favorite spot but the guy just sat! Ugh! I'm stressed! I hope he's not there today, so I can have my peace of mind again. By the way, how was your study? If I remember it right, you want to be a cardiologist, right? I hope you're studying well. And speaking of medical field, the guy yesterday was reading a book about anatomy and physiology. And now I remember him again! Is it bad to have this kind of distaste towards the person you just met yesterday? It just that... he didn't made me angry once but twice—I gotta go! My mom's here, I'm sure she will talk about the party again. Bye! Hope to see you again sooner.
The frustrated girl from yesterday,
Aurelia C. Fretser"Lia! Come down here!" here we go again. Mom still at it. The party for summer. Why would I host a party? I don't have any interest at it in the first place and now. I blowed a breath and blink my eyes in a hundred times before the door slammed open and mom greeted me with his beautiful smile. I keep staring at her before I close my laptop and took off my reading glasses. I show her my sarcastic smile and walk pass her.
Mom and her idea.
"Lia, parties are for you. Adolescent stage like it. Teens like you need a wild and loud—"
"But I'm not that kind of animal mom, I don't like wild and loud." I said with conviction. Spreading the strawberry jam in my bread I look at the clock. Nine o'clock. I'll go with 9 o'clock.
"But Lia, you can't just stay in your room all day and watch Netflix all day! Get yourself a hobby other than reading and watching!" mom's read face is in front of me. Her eyes is begging me to follow her and take her advice. But thank you, but no thanks, I'd rather drown myself in reading instead of attending a nonsense parties. "Lia... find yourself a friend other than that boy Caroline."
I paused for a moment and eat my breakfast again. Well... I hate to admit but Mom had her point. Caroline is not here. He can't hear my queries, my cries and rants. But how can I find a friend?
I draw a breath and scratch my forehead. "Fine. But I still don't want a party! I'll find my friend other than Mr. Ricky and Caroline."
My Mom's smile reached her eyes. Her face shows how excited she is. I can't disappoint her, I just can't. "By the way, where is Mr. Ricky?" Mom look around like finding something. I point my finger near the kitchen window where a big furry white cat was sleeping. When Mom calls his name the cat began to open his eyes revealing his dark green eyes. Just when his sight found mine he immediately rolled his eyes and yawned. This attitude cat.
"I'll go, mom. I'll bring Mr. Ricky with me." I washed my hands and kissed my mom goodbye before I took the attitude cat with me. "How can I have a friend, Mr. Ricky?" I ask my cat in my arms while walking to Alyana's coffee shop. Mr. Ricky meowed and rolled his eyes again.
The hotness of summer is all I feel when walking, the bike's horns and peoples laughing were the voices I heard beside from my cats bell in his necks. The streets looks empty but it looks peaceful.
After walking in a long minute. I found self in front of my sister's café. The sign board says it opens, the place is not that loaded unlike yesterday.
I opened the door. As I set my foot inside the coffee shop my eyes immediately flew to my favorite spot. To my disappointment, the guy yesterday was there. Sitting comfortably while tapping on his laptop. But beside him is a gray furry cat sleeping in harmony. His other hand was tapping the laptop while the other were caressing his cat.
"Lia!" I turn to my sister whose wincing when she notice that I brought someone today. "You brought that cat." Mr. Ricky rolled his eyes to my sister. "Oh, the attitude, Ricky."
I chuckled and walk closer to my sister. "I'll work later at night, Yana. I'll tour Mr. Ricky to your shop."
"Well, your pussy's attitude isn't belong here, might as well give him a lesson, right?" Yana jokingly said and take Mr. Ricky from me. "I'm going to grind you!"
I take Mr. Ricky back from her before my cat will scratch her. Yana will grind him if ever that happens.
"I'll just get a seat, Yana." I smiled at her. My sister eyed me weirdly when I look around to find another place that will perfectly suited me and my cat.
"Oh I see..." my sister nodded. "That's his seat actually. When it's morning that's his place. And when night comes, it becomes you territory." Yana smiled amusedly. "Why not share it? I think his kind."
I shook my head no while scanning the other table in the corner, but it's far from the glass window! My attention become aware when Mr. Ricky jumped off from my arms. I was eyeing where he will go when his taking the direction to my favorite spot! Holy cow!
"Mr. Ricky! Come back here!" I whispered afraid that everyone will be disturb.
"Oh, I think your cat found his new friend." Yana's mocking voice were behind my ear.
I began to walk when I caught the tall guy's eyes on me. He was staring me while walking closer to the table we was seated. "I just followed my cat, I didn't mean to disturb you." I pick my cat whose busy to play with his friend.
"Freya..." I look at him. How did he knew my first name? As far as I remember, I didn't wrote my first name in my letter, yesterday. Well, this past months, I didn't put my first name in my letters. "Freya, come here."
Did he just...?
Is his cat named, Freya?!
