♧
The early morning light filtered through the heavy drapes that surrounded the four-poster bed in the Gryffindor boys' dormitory. The golden rays cast a soft glow over the tangled sheets, but within the enclosed space, everything was still and peaceful. Yoongi lay nestled in Jungkook's arms, his head resting on Jungkook's chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The warmth of Jungkook's body against his own was a comfort he had grown increasingly accustomed to, a sense of security that made the outside world seem distant and unimportant.
Jungkook's bed was far from spacious, but the closeness was something they both cherished. The heavy velvet curtains that surrounded the bed offered them a cocoon of privacy, shielding them from the curious eyes of Jungkook's roommates. The dormitory was still quiet, the other boys lost in sleep, unaware of the secret being kept just beyond the drapes.
Yoongi shifted slightly, looking up at Jungkook's face. Even in sleep, Jungkook's features were softened by the vulnerability that only Yoongi was privy to. Yoongi watches how the scars on Jungkook's face vanishes by an everlasting charm, and how his face is once clear again now that the time strikes 6 in the morning. The usual tension that marked his brow, the ever-present alertness in his eyes, was gone, leaving behind a peaceful expression that made Yoongi's heart swell with affection.
He couldn't help but smile as he traced a finger lightly along Jungkook's jawline, marveling at how different everything felt when it was just the two of them. Here, in the early morning stillness, the pressures of their respective houses, their schoolwork, and the looming Apparition tests seemed to melt away. It was just them, together in their own little world.
Jungkook stirred slightly at the touch, his eyes fluttering open. When he saw Yoongi gazing up at him, a slow smile spread across his face. "Morning," he whispered, his voice still husky from sleep.
"Morning," Yoongi replied, his voice equally soft. He shifted closer, nuzzling into the crook of Jungkook's neck, drawing in the familiar scent that was uniquely his.
They lay like that for a few moments, savoring the peace before the day began in earnest. Yoongi's mind wandered to the events of the previous night, the way he had crept up to the Gryffindor Tower under the cover of darkness, avoiding the prefects and the ghosts that roamed the halls. It had become a routine for the past two weeks that they are back at school, these late-night visits, though it never failed to send a thrill through him each time he slipped into Jungkook's bed, the curtains closing around them like a protective shield.
"I wish we could stay like this forever," Yoongi murmured, his voice barely audible.
Jungkook tightened his hold on him, pressing a soft kiss to the top of Yoongi's head. "Me too," he replied, his voice tinged with a wistfulness that echoed Yoongi's own feelings. "But we'll have to get up soon. The Apparition test is just after breakfast."
