As the car made an abrupt stop in front of the house, I could feel the weight of the packs stairs.
One by one we all exited the car. Getting out of the car, I made eye contact with an angry Sam. He was shaking uncontrollably, like anything can set him off.
Chris wrapped his arms around me, reassuringly.
"How dare you show your face around here?"
Sam stepped up angerly. The other followed his path and stood, glaring at us.
"Get your head out of your ass. I'm not here for any of you assholes."I growl.
Sam glared before moving his eyes from me to Chris to Camila.
"Because of your ignorance and arrogant, my brother is missing. He could be lost somewhere, scared and alone. He could be hurt, he could be-" I stop myself, not daring to utter my worst fears aloud.
"As pack alpha it was your responsibility to take care of Seth but instead he went missing under your supposed watch." l growl.
Jacob stepped out from behind Sam and tried to get in my face.
"How dare you talk to our alpha like that, you traitor? You left this pack, you left seth and if anything, he left because of you."
Chistopers hands slid out from around my waist as he stepped up.
"I don't give a fuck who you are. Get in my mates face again and I'll rip your head off your shoulders." He growls.
Sam flinches slightly and back up, taking jacob back with him.
Looking up, I made eye contact with a disappointed Emily and Kim. Send a smile and wave their way, they brightened.
"I'll call you later."
Emily smiles and nodes.
Gripping Christopher's hand I guide him and the others down to the path next Sam's house.
"Your car won't be able to pass through, would it be okay to leave it?" I ask.
"Don't worry about it, honey. I'll ask the driver to send our bags to the hotel."
The walk was short but I was more than delighted to show everyone my favorite lakes and ponds.
Cam tried three times to throw Camila into a lake but instead ended up falling into the lake himself.
By the time we made it to my mother's home, Cam was covered in mud and grass stains, chris's hair was wet from taking a dive himself and Camila's shoes where covered in mud.
"It's embarrassing to go out in public with the three of you." Camila said.
"He started it." Cam whines.
As we approached the front door, I could hear a ruckus of yelling and arguing inside the house.
"Shut it both of you."
I composed myself and took two deep breaths before turning the nob.
Walking in, I saw my mom getting yelled at by a woman I couldn't see.
"Leah?"
When my mother turned around I finally caught sight of the woman.
"Ari?" I smile.
I was about to go full going into her arms but Christopher gripped me tightly.
"Chris? Lemme go."
"Look at her." he instructed.
Looking at by big sister, I could see he body structure shaking more and more.
"Everyone move."
Silence.
"MOVE, MOVE."
Grabbing Ari quickly, I pushed her outside into the dirt.
"LEAH, WHAT THE FUCK."
Ari shook more until her knees gave out from under her and she groaned in pain.
Her bones bagan to shift and she withered around.
"Let it happen sis." I encourage. "Just let it happen, don't fight it."
Before I knew it a white wolf with brown splotches. Ari thrashed and growled at us as we tried to get closer.
"Oh god, not again." Mom yells.
"Enough, Sue."
I ran behind a bush and shifted. Instead of approaching with caution, I tackled Ari to the ground playfully.
"What's happening to me?" she asks
"You've shifted. All the tales of the quilet people and the cold people are true. We're wolves but that doesn't mean we're confined to this place." I explain
"What does that mean?"
"It's only a matter of time before Sam and the others come. They're gonna try to tell you that you're destined to stay here and protect thisnland but you're not. You can leave, like I did."
I could feel Ari's anger at hearing sams name through out bond.
"You left?"
"I did. I met someone." I tilt my head towards Chris.
Ari analyzes everyone one by one slowly until her eyes stop at Camila.
Flashes of visions projected through our bond as Camila slowly approached a shy Ariana.
"Hello there, gorgeous." she smiles.
Ariana hesitated for a moment before nuzzling her snout against Camila hand.
Not wanting to intrude on the intimate moment I went behind the bush and shifted back.
After getting dresses, I slumped right into Christopher's arms.
It was silent for a moment. A comfortable silence, asside from my mother's obvious need to want to say something.
But all good moments come to an end. Heavy footsteps echoe through the woods as the pack slowly surrounded us.
Camila took a protective step infrint of Ari as Sam came forward.
