[ Max ]

When I woke up, Nate wasn't there, which almost made me think that I had dreamed the entire thing. I'd checked my phone, seeing a text from him.

Sorry I had to leave. My mom told me to come home.

I smiled to myself. So it wasn't a dream, after all.

But now I was left with a rather difficult situation. Jeremy. We weren't technically dating, but I had definitely started to feel an attraction for him, even if we had only hung out a couple of times.

But as much as I liked him, I liked Nathan more, and that made me feel like an asshole.

I sighed and went to my mom's room. "Mom?" I knocked on the open door.

"Yeah, hon?"

"Can I come in?"

"Yes."

I entered her room and she was fixing her bed. "I need...advice."

"On?"

I had to play this out right and pick my words. "Well...Ronnie asked me to ask you for boy advice."

"Really now?" She raised her brows. Great. Now she was suspicious.

I nodded. "Okay, so, she kinda started to see this guy. And they weren't dating or anything, but she kinda likes him...fast forward about a week or so, the guy she actually really likes asks her out...what does she do?"

"Well," She hesitated. "What does Ronnie want to do?"

"She really wants to go with the the guy she really likes."

"Well then, she should tell the other one that."

"But how should she tell him?"

"Hm." She patted the bed for me to sit when she was done. "He's a great guy, right?" I nodded. "So, then Ronnie should just tell him. He's good and everything but he's just not that...spark."

"Thank you." I said.

"You're welcome, hon."

She pecked my forehead and I left her room, she knew. There was no way she didn't not know.

"So why are you doing this?" Ronnie tossed herself on my bed. We were waiting for Jeremy to arrive, which was about to be any minute.

"Because, I realized that I have feelings for Nathan—"

"I thought you already realized this?" She raised a brow.

"Well, yeah I did, but he admitted to having feelings for me, too." I sighed, rolling my eyes. "We had a long, heartfelt conversation, and then one very bad kiss."

"Oh." My head snapped up to see that Jeremy was standing in the middle of my doorway, how had neither of us heard him open it?

"Jeremy," I got up from my bed but he held up his hand to stop me.

"I hadn't expected that would have been what happened after yesterday, but I guess life is full of surprises like that, isn't it?"
