[ Max ]

I sat somewhere behind Nathan thanks to Alphabetical order. The principal was talking but I wasn't paying attention. "...The graduating class of 2018!" Our principal roared into the microphone and the place erupted behind us.

We stood and walked to the stairs leading up to the stage. We were called by our last names. We had a small graduating class, about one-fifty and they seemed drawn out.

Finally, "Nathan Stanton!" Was called and he looked back at me before walking. There was about a dozen people, give it take, that stood in between us, but thst didn't stop him from blowing me a kiss.

I smiled, making like I caught the kiss to which he grinned and walked around the stage, shaking hands with the principal and other various staff members. He was handed his diploma and walked off stage.

I ran to give Max's mom my diploma and took a sleeping Spence from my mom. He was only a couple days old and already having his first big outing. And what other first adventure could be so grand as to attend both of your dads' graduation ceremonies? I wasn't so close to the stage so that the loud noises wouldn't hurt his ears, but I still wanted to be close enough that Max could see us.

"Maxwell Telem!" Our principal roared once more and I watched him as he walked with pride across the stage, shaking hands and receiving his diploma. He stepped off stage and hugged the two of us, tightly.

I hugged Nathan as hard as I could, careful of little Spence in his arms. I kissed Nathan and then pecked our son on the forehead.

"Congratulations, Mr. Telem." He whispered in my ear, hugging me tight.

All I could do was kiss him again and again.

We were supposed to stand with our graduating class until after everyone had received their diplomas, but instead, we met back up with our mothers and Ty.

"Is that Owen?" Ms. Stanton pointed towards the doorway that was between the bleachers and we all turned.

Sure enough, Owen was indeed walking towards us.

"Owen." My mother said when he was within ear shot.

"Sarah." He stepped face to face with my mom.

"You're here for?"

He hesitated, looking from her to me. "To be at my son's graduation." He stood in front of me, resting his hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry for what I said and how I treated you. I really am proud of you, Max." He hugged me tight and I hugged him back.

Owen may not have been my dad by blood, but he raised me like his own. "I forgive you." My eyes were getting watery.

I seen a flash and blushed as Nathan took a picture at my mother's request.

The rest was pretty much history.
