Part 10, Will He Die?, Harry’s POV

I went home, waiting for a phone call from Leo. I never heard my phone ring. I never got a text from anybody. I started to get really worried about Harry. Then just as I finished my homework, I got a phone call from Leo’s Mother. I could tell that something was very wrong, from the way that she picked up the phone.

“ Hello, Is everything okay Mary?” I asked her, becoming very concerned. Mary has never called before.

“ Everything is not okay. Leo got into a car crash. He is at the hospital!” She started crying. So did I.

“ Hold on, I will be right there. I will meet you at your house right away.” I told her.

I freaked out and almost ran into a tree on my way out of my driveway. I drove way past the speed limit, getting to their house. I knocked on the front door one hundred times. Mary looked really bad. She had mascara running down her face and she looked like she was going to throw up any minute. Then I figured that it is probably just her freaking out face. I am freaking out.

“ What happened? Is he okay?” I asked her anxiously. I wanted answers about what happened to MY Leo.

“ I really don’t know. All I know is that his car went off the road. He was rushed straight to the hospital where they cleaned him up a bit. They weren’t able to tell me anything else, they said that it is not a good outcome…” She chocked on her own tears. She could barely cough out the words her mind was producing for her.

“ I need to go see him right now!”  I yelled, and then I was out the door. I drove to the hospital and slammed the door really loudly. I ran into the hospital, running up to the front desk.

“ Hello, I am here to see Leo Sanchaez. What room is he in?” I asked the woman politely.

“ Are you a family member?” She asked me sternly.

“ I am his boyfriend.”

“ Oh, um in that case… Hey Ben, what room is Leo Sanchaez in?” The woman looked over to a man who told her the room number so she could tell me.

“ Room 502.” Ben told me.

“ Thank you.” I said

“ Yeah just go to the fifth floor and turn left when you get there. His room will be right there. Be quiet when you go in. He is still sleeping.” The woman told me.

“ Thank you again.” I ran to the elevator and went up to the fifth floor. I turned left, just as she told me to. I opened the door quietly and slowly. Hoping that I wouldn’t wake him up from his beautiful slumber. I went over to him, he was hooked up with lots of wires going into his skin. His pulse was being monitored on the pulse computer. I went over beside his bed and brought a chair over to the side of his bed. I took his hand into mine. I started crying.

“ Leo, I love you. Please get better.” I wanted him to tell me that he would be fine. I wanted everything to be fine. I knew that he took medicine to make him want to sleep. I would be here when he woke up. I wanted to be the first thing he will see when he wakes up.

I fell asleep next to him in the chair. I dreamed about him. I dreamed about him kissing me. Him smoothing down my hair. I dreamed about him and I laying down on a soft downy bed and……

“WAKE UP!” I heard someone scream into my ear. The doctor needs to have a word with you. I saw that the person who screamed in my ear was my Mom. I went into the hall way to talk to the doctor.

“ Hello, my Mom just told me that you need to talk to me.”

“ Yes, thank you for coming out here. I have some not so good news for you.” My face felt like it was going to come off.

“ What do you mean?” I asked her

“ I was doing a few tests on Leo and his breathing has been getting worse. I thought that he was doing well but it turns out that he is not doing that well.” I could tell by from the reaction on her face, that she didn’t want to tell me this news. I felt tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn’t breathe, I had to stabilize myself against the wall.

“ What are you trying to say?” I asked her, wanting to hear something come out of her mouth that was actually clear enough to understand.

“ We will be keeping a close eye on him.” Then she looked at me one last time before she walked away down the hallway.

I walked back into Leo’s room, closing the door behind me. I cried there for hours it felt like. I took Leo’s hand into mine.

“ Please don’t leave me Leo. Please don’t leave me.”

“ How is he?” I jumped when I heard Ave’s voice behind me. I looked up to her.

“ I don’t know what is going to happen to him Ave. his breathing has been getting worse every day. The doctor just told me that she will be keeping a very close eye on him.” I held back my tears and my frustration.

“ I am sure that he will be fine. I believe in him. He loves you so much.” She told me.

“ Do you really think that he will wake up?” I asked her.

“ Yes, I really do think that he will wake up for you. Would you like me to stay here with you?” She asked me

“ You don’t have to stay with me. I will be fine here alone. I have Leo.” I told her. Ave left me and went back home. I spent weeks sitting by Leo’s side. I always wanted him to wake up. His breathing was staying the same I kept worrying about him more and more every day.
