Kay stepped into the bright daylight and blinked against the glare. As her eyes adjusted, she lifted her head and, with her lids closed, soaked up the sun for a minute or two.

"Hey, I am the one that was locked up for longer than I care to remember," Zeus teased.

Seeing him in his signature dark leather jacket, white shirt and formal pants, when she was used to him wearing an orange jumpsuit, seemed odd. Akira's limo halted near them. The elegant car seemed slightly ominous with its dark tinted windows, maybe because it used to belong to Azera.

"Our chariot has arrived, my lady," Zeus said, his jacket hanging over his cuffed hands. Technically, he was in her custody until they reached their destination, but he wouldn't bolt.

This earth was not big enough to hide from the council, and he knew it. And what would be the point? He would be free in two months to do as he pleased if he pledged his cause to Akira, and he already did that by signing the accords.

The moment they seated themselves, the car came into motion, and before long, they were once again inside Azera's castle. Akira's castle, and she greeted them outside, hugging Kay but only nodding at Zeus.

Brother and sister had not yet spoken, and whatever happened on the day Akira fled from him or stomped off was not resolved.

"Welcome home," Akira said, and when Barker aimed to lead Zeus to the dungeon, she motioned him away. "There will be time enough for such things."

She did not remove the cuffs, and Zeus did not protest. Oddly, he had not confided in her about what had happened; although he told her nearly everything else, and she could tell that it bothered him.

Zeus was unlike the others. If she had to be honest, he was dangerous, despite being nice enough to her. His siding with the dark fae was best for all parties involved. Although by no means evil, she suspected that he was a man who would do what needed to be done in any situation. Even if it verged on morally unacceptable behavior.

He was the type of person Akira needed on her side to keep her minions in check.

They entered the house, and arms locked around her. She recognized him before he even said a word, and if she had been paying attention, she would have sensed him. She turned in his arms, and their lips met. When they finally parted, Akira and Zeus had discreetly departed.

"Are you supposed to be here?" she asked, and he smirked. How much she had missed that sexy smile and those smoldering eyes.

"Thane did not tell you?" he asked, cocking a dark brow at her.

"Tell me what?"

"We've sided with Akira."

"You did what? And what's with the royal "we?"

"Claudia, Hercules, and I."

"Marcus, you cannot switch sides without dragging your people with you."

Would he do that for her? It was insane.

"They agreed with my decision."

"Did you forget about us?" Adrian asked, entering with a vase in her hands and Marcella at her heels. The women owned several businesses together, one of which was an antique store.

"What do you mean us?" Kay asked, shocked, as Marcus locked his arms around her from behind, and she leaned into him.

"Darius would not let his adopted daughter be condemned for doing the right thing, so he approached Akira. A lot happened while you were gone. Poor Thane had the worst time stopping his children from switching sides. Apparently, you have a hell of an effect on people," Marcella said, glancing at something on her phone.
