"Well, how does it feel to have my ring on your finger?" Marcus asked, taking her hand and inspecting his family crest set in blue-white diamonds and onyx amidst a circle of blue amethyst with a single ruby at its center.
She shifted against his chest, cuddling like a puppy, and he glanced down at her with a smirk. His new wife wasn't ready to be awake yet, but they had an early start.
"I can ask you the same thing about my ring," she muttered, snuggling deeper under the covers.
"We've got a flight to catch, sleepy head," he said, kissing her hand.
She didn't move.
"Do you want your mother coming in here to wake us?" he asked.
"She's already here," she said, and someone knocked on the door. He wanted to send her away and give Kay a few more minutes, but as if she sensed the thought, she muttered, "Food."
If not sensing his thoughts, she might have picked up on his intentions.
"Come in," he said, making sure they were decently covered, and Jade entered with a huge tray, heading straight for the table and not glancing in their direction.
"Thane doesn't want you missing your flight," she said as if she sensed her daughter wasn't fully awake yet.
"Why would you speak to him so early in the morning..." Kay said, suddenly awake. "You didn't spend the night with him?" she asked, shocked, and Jade's instant anger had the cobwebs clearing from both their minds as she turned to face them.
"He spent the night at the castle in his own room, and most of your guests are having breakfast already."
"I am sorry; it is none of my business," Kay apologized, sitting upright and remembering that she was naked just in time to keep the covers in place.
"Yes, daughter, it is none of your business, but in case you forgot, I am still married."
"Technically," Marcus said, and his mother-in-law's eyes sparked with blue fire, her succubus barely controlled.
He definitely touched a sore spot.
"Mind your manners, boy," Jade said, and coming from a woman that looked barely older than him, it sounded ridiculous, but he wasn't fool enough to let her see his reaction.
"I am sorry, Mother," he apologized, and oddly his choice to call her that softened her expression.
"Mom, I should not have reacted like that, especially after what I did, but it is still rather gross to think of your mother and father doing... that," Kay said, blushing cutely.
"Perhaps my guilty conscience reacted so harshly because he very nearly persuaded me to join him in his room," Jade admitted, blushing as deeply. "Now, get up, please."
"Yes, Mother," they chimed up simultaneously as if they planned it and, glancing at each other, laughed.
"You've got an hour to get to the airport, and Claudia called to warn us the roads are busy," she said, leaving them alone.
"Are you ready to spend the rest of our lives together?" he asked, pulling Kay into his arms for a good morning kiss, but she avoided his mouth.
"Rule number one, no kissing before I've brushed my teeth," she said, ducking out of his arms and running across the shaggy white carpet that covered the marble floor to the massive, modern bathroom, laughing.
The outside of the castle looked old and rustic, but the inside was very modern, especially in the private suits.
His vampire chased before he even had a chance to think about it, and their laughter echoed off the walls as he caught her and kissed her.
The End.
