Brother of Wind {Book 8: the Sons of Garmadon}

Chapter 14

Ninjago has had it's fair share of mishaps. But when it just started to be "modern" a large city wide threat isn't exactly the thing you'd expect. Neither did this couple. She lived in a complex, maybe 10 stories high and near the center of Ninjago City. Recently at that time, there had been serpentine sightings, the news advised everyone to stay inside as much as possible.

Until one day the ground shook. Maybe it was an earth quake, that's what she thought it was until shouts were heard out the window. She rushed to look when there were five people rushing around in colours. Thoses were the Ninja.

Then beside those five, the largest snake she's ever seen in her life. She didn't have time to grab anything. She just rushed out of her apartment to get out and leave.

Everyone else seemed to have the same idea. While trying to get to the stairs, there were so many people pushing past that this girl was immidiately pushed back and into the elevator. Then her neighbors rushed up.

Her neighbors were always nice, a nuclear family, father, mother and daughter. The parents handed their daughter forwards.
"Please! Take care of her!" The mother said.

"No!" The little girl yelled. The elevator doors closed. Immidiately after they opened, everyone ran out. The building collapsed behind them.
"Noo!!" The little girl yelled

After that, she went to the police to hand over the little girl to them.

The little girl just sat on a car, a blanket around her shoulders.

"Do you have a name?" One officer asked. The litlle girl didn't answer. The Wind Ninja ran past with other officers. It looked like he lead a search party.
"Man, that guy.." The second officer said.
"He's the least flashy one, right? Working hard. He looks like he's about to collapse." She sighed.

"And what about you?" The first officer turned to the little girl. Well, she wasn't that young. Maybe 11 or 12.
"Are you okay?" The first officer asked. She still didn't answer.

"Well, aren't you a quiet one."

Lloyd jumped to the side, Harumi stubling forwards as she slashed her knife.
"Put it down, Harumi! I'm never going to get it for you!" Lloyd exclaimed.
"Of course you say that. But sooner or less..." Harumi stood up.
"You'll feel pity for your darling little princess." She ran her finger on the dull edge of her blade.

Lloyd's expression wavered. For a split second he glanced down before regaining his focus. Harumi readied her knife again and ran forwards, making big slashes and stabs at Lloyd, but the Ninja was able to move around and dodge. But throughout it all, Lloyd kept Harumi in front of him and the Mask behind him.

Harumi ran once again, this time her grip was backhand. She went of a punch first but Lloyd caught it with his left. Then Harumi raised her free hand for what looked like another punch so Lloyd raised his other hand. Unfortunately, that was the hand with the knife and Harumi went for a slash.

"Argh!!" Lloyd exclaimed, his right hand flinching forwards. He pulled back and kicked Harumi away. He raised his hands but was able to just see the palm of his hand. There was a straight cut across his hand, his blood dripped down. That was a deep one.

Lloyd looked as his hand as Harumi started to laugh.
"What's wrong, Lloyd? Can't bring yourself to hurt me?" She taunted.
"Looks like that won't stop me." She raised her dagger again.

She ran around the podium, forcing Lloyd to shift from where he was currently standing. He gritted his teeth to ingore the sting on his hand and closed his fists. Then the two engaged in a ckose combat match, but Lloyd kept blocking Harumi and eventually was able to knock her weapon away to the ground. Harumi grunted as she put all of her force into two punches, both blocked by Lloyd when he palmed them. Harumi then twisted her hands to wrap around and out of Lloyd's grip, catching Lloyd the smallest bit off guard but that was enough. His footing was off so Harumi was able to kick him back.

Lloyd stumbled over the pedestal where the Mask was and his arm flew back and knocked it out of it's place. Lloyd's head hit to the rock and he pulled himself up.

The air got colder as a chill flew down his spine. Lloyd and Harumi saw the purple Mask of Hatred out of its hold and on the stone ground.
"No!" Lloyd shouted, pulling himself up as much as possible and running towards the Mask.
"It's mine!" Harumi shouted, running up also. Lloyd tripped over the uneven rock and fell to the ground, his hand just reaching the Mask.

Lloyd only had a split second to react so the first glance he got, he threw the Mask away towards the edge. Harumi did her best to keep her eye on it but that was ultimately what lead to he breath gerting caught.

The rest of the team was there, stading in front of the entrance. Morro, looking a little worn out was holding the Mask. Cole has carrying Wu and the rest had their weapons out.

"No..." Harumi exclaimed.
"NOOO!" She yelled.
"You lost. Harumi." Lloyd said, pushing himself up. Morro handed the Mask back to Zane and Morro pulled out his staff to hold it to Harumi. Once he did that, everyone went to check up on Lloyd.

"Are you okay?" Pixal asked.
"Yeah. As I'll ever be." Lloyd grinned.
"Morro received something on his hand." Zane whispered.
"Oh. Yeah. That's this." Lloyd held up his wounded hand.
"Woah!" Jay exclaimed.
"You got into it, huh?" He said.

Everyone looked at him.
"Poor wording, I'll try again." Jay said. But Kai interrupted him.
"So, I assume that you know that." He pointed to Cole who held up Wu.
"Y-yeah." Lloyd said, with a confused look on his face.
"If only I didn't hit it out. Then the Mask wouldn't have been accessible." Lloyd said.
"At least we have it, right?" Nya asked.
"Yeah." Lloyd nodded.
"You're lucky you and Morro have you know what. Or else we'd be lost since we kind abandoned ship to get here without chains." Cole sighed. Lloyd nodded and Kai ruffled the kid's hair.

"Now we just have to shut down the rest of th--"

"AAH--" Lloyd's eyes went bloodshot before they closed and he fell to the ground. Nothing could've hit him from behind, so what happened?!....

No... It can't be.

The Ninja turned around. They saw Harumi standing to the side as Morro was falling forwards. Thr Ninja hit the ground and behind him, Mr. E standing with his red sword pointed down. Morro's gi was sliced on the back as he dropped his staff. The Ninja covered Lloyd while Nya raised her weapon.
"Oh, I wouldn't try that, if I were you." Harumi said. Mr. E grabbed Morro's collar and held him up, holding his sword to Morro's neck.

"If you want him back, then you'll do this for me." Harumi started.

"The Mask of Hatred will be delivered by the Green Ninja to me at the Palace." She instructed.
"I would advise him to come alone. Unless you want your leader back alive." Harumi went to pick up her blade that Lloyd hit away earlier.
"And oh!" She paused, her dagger back in her hand.
"If you follow us now, then you can count on the entire Sons of Garmadon making sure that Morro won't make another storm ever again." Harumi said, waving goodbye to the Ninja and exiting the cavern.

None of them moved until they were completely out of sight. Then Kai and Nya ran out as fast as they could only to whitness the Bounty taking off, the Sons of Garmadon piloting.

As the siblings watched them take off, Zane and Jay came out carrying Lloyd, followed by Pixal and Cole. They were left to wonder about the rest.

So first time changing something big IG lmaoo. Now I have to figure out how to make it work because usually I don't think too far ahead, let alone stray from the OG story too much, as evidence of book 5
