Mike's POV

I stand up from the ground, holding my hand out. Kaylah takes a hold of my hand, pulling her up. I let go of her hand, pulling her into another hug, squeezing her tightly, hoping to never lose her. She holds me just as tight, her head on my chest, my lips pressing to the top of her head. This is what I missed for years. 17, to be exact. I sigh in content, both of us letting go after some time. I hold her at arm's length, looking her in the eye.

"You okay?" I whisper, hoping she'll never slip past my fingers again.

"Yeah." She mumbles, bringing her hands to her face.

I stop her by wiping the stray tears, on her face for her. I kiss her forehead, guiding her downstairs. We sit back at the table with Tony, eating in a somewhat comfortable silence.

"So, you guys adopted me?" Kaylah questions, Tony looking up at her. "Because, if I'm correct, women can only reproduce children with the help of a male."

I look at Tony, Tony nodding his head agreement with Kaylah.

"True, but not every woman can reproduce children." Tony says, swallowing his piece of chicken. "Some men can reproduce children, but there's a one in a million chance to that. I just so happened to be that 1 chance." Tony mumbles, looking down at his food.

"Oh." Is all that comes out of her mouth, Kaylah and I going back to eating in silence.

Tension spirals around the room, making everyone look uncomfortable. Out of the blue, my phone begins to ring. I excuse myself, walking into the hallway with the pictures.

"Hello?" I answer the phone, my hand being too quick for my eyes to see who's calling.

"Hey Mike, where are you?" Alysha says into the receiver, a worried tone lacing itself into her words.

"I'm with Tony right now, is something wrong?" I question, really wanting to get off the phone, now that I hear Kaylah and Tony talking.

"No, I just wanted to know where you are. That's all." She explains, another voice in the background speaking. "I gotta go Mike, talk to you later."

"Alright, love y-" My voice quickly gets cut off by the line going dead.

Well then. I walk back into the kitchen, sliding my phone into my back pocket. I sit in my original seat, Tony and Kaylah not acknowledging my presence.

"And maybe, we can go to Hershey park, in Philly." Tony suggests to Kaylah, a big smile working on to her face.

"Ooh, what about Gravity hill?" Kaylah questions, practically jumping out of her seat with excitement.

"Of course." Tony gives her the most sassiest look since the day I met him. "How could we not? Mike, you want to come?" Tony's eyes venture on to my quiet self, breaking me from my observation of their relationship.

"When do you guys plan on going?" I question, but who cares? I'll make room, if it means I can spend time with Kaylah and Tony.

"In maybe 2 weeks, when Kaylah is out of school." Tony answers, Kaylah standing up from the table, washing her dishes in the kitchen sink.

"Sure, let me just make sure, my calendar is clear." I say, finishing my plate of food.

Tony stands up from the table, taking my plate and his. He walks over to the kitchen sink, helping wash the dishes with Kaylah. Tony cleans the dishes, passing them to Kaylah, so she can dry them.

"So Kaylah, what grade are you in?" I ask, uncomfortable with the silence.

"I'm a junior in high school, turning 17 in the middle of December." Kaylah answers, sitting on the counter next to Tony, as he continues to wash the dishes, passing her the dishes for her to dry them.

"What day?" I question, a smile on my face.

"December 14." Her smile grows bigger than ever, her pearly whites glowing.

"That's the same day as mine." I reply, Kaylah looking between Tony and I.

"You never told me that." Kaylah says to Tony, her feet swinging back and forth gently.

Tony shrugs his shoulders, drying his hands after he finishes washing the dishes. We continue to have a normal conversation about Kaylah's grades, school, and the trip to Philadelphia.

Sorry for such a short, late update, but I had writer's block, and have regents for science and math next week. But when the regents are over, I'll try my best to post longer chapters.
