"Are you sure you don't want to come?" Uraraka glanced your way, tapping her cheek in thought. "It'll be fun. I don't mean to be rude at all, Y/n, I'm sorry if I come off this way. But you never seem to hang out with us much. You're still our friend. We want you here."

You shrugged, slugging your bag over your shoulder. "I'm sure, Uraraka. I'm just really busy. Busy home life, plus all the homework Aizawa sensei gives us. I'm sorry."

"We understand. Maybe just one day you could come out with us? No pressure, obviously."

You nodded. "I guess. But I really should get home."

"Are your parents, like, strict or something?" Ashido piped in.

"Oh, no, not really. They're not, um, really home that often. Just me and my siblings."

"How many siblings do you have?" Ashido bounded over to your desk.

"Just one..." You struggled to lie more. "But I have two cousins who live with us."

"Younger or older?"

"All of them are older. My parents aren't really...they're not home. Business trips."

"So then they should be able to take care of themselves! Let's go. Please? And then we won't pester you tomorrow, or for the next month. Pinky promise!" Ashido made a whiny noise. "Yaomomo's birthday party is tomorrow! And we all have nothing to wear. When she's talking moderately formal, she probably means like, fancy for us! We dress like bums half the time."

Tsu nudged Ashido. "I think we have pretty good style."

"Girls, pack up and get out of here. The bell rang five minutes ago," Aizawa snapped. "I don't want to have to watch you all any longer than I'm required to."

"Sorry, sensei. We'll be out of your hair!"

The girls of 1-A rushed out and filtered out onto the street.

"This is where we depart," you said, feigning a silly kind of sadness. "I go this way."

"Why don't we go with you? We'll drop off your things at your house!"

Your face flushed, heat rushing to your cheeks. "Oh, that's okay. My parents don't really like visitors. They're not home but, yeah I guess I lied when I said they aren't strict. They really want me to focus on my studies."

"We can convince them for you!" Ashido bounced up and down.

"Mina, don't push it," Uraraka said, putting a hand up to calm her enthusiasm. "If you really don't want to come, then we'll just hope you can come next time."

"Will everyone else be there, too?" Right now, it was just you, Tsu, Uraraka, and the ever-excitable Ashido.

"Yeah, except for Yaomomo, of course. All our outfits are surprises for her," Tsu joined in.

"I don't...know. I'm really busy, you guys."

"Is everything all right at home, Y/n? You seem to be really shy when we offer to walk you home or anything. And whenever we mention your home life, you get really quiet. I don't mean any offense, but, are you okay?"

Your brow furrowed, suddenly serious. "Yeah? Why wouldn't I be?" And you were telling them the truth. What reason was there to be unhappy with your life?

"In all seriousness, Y/n, please come out with us. We love seeing you at school."

But there was so much shit you needed to get done at home. With your actual homework piling up, and your serum...it was so close to being finished and turned into a gas. You just needed to work out a few tweaks and everything would be perfect. You'd be done with this damn school faster than you thought.
