My Death

I was in front of my old elementary school, but I don't know what I was doing there. I met a woman who was in her late thirties to her early forties, though I never got her name. She had light blonde hair, and she was an unhealthy pale color. I think she was sick; it was possibly cancer or something serious like that, but couldn't be treated. She and I became fast friends. I remember random bits of us laughing together.

Now, we were standing outside in the parking lot. I had a crushing pain in my abdomen; I fell backwards. My friend ran to my side, tears were running down her face. I was confused and in so much pain. She kept repeating, "Stay with me." Then, she called for an ambulance. That would take the better part of 10-15 minutes because the nearest hospital is on the other side of town.

My eyes felt heavy, so I closed them. I could hear her yelling, "No! Open your eyes!" But I couldn't anymore. I felt like I had drifted off to sleep, I was weightless. Suddenly, I back to the school parking lot, standing up with my eyes open. I no longer feel any pain. About 15 feet away, people are crowding around something on the ground.

Each step I take, I notice one more thing about what was there. Those red converse. That gray shirt with an open light blue button up over it. Those dark jeans. That brown curly hair. I see my own small body laying in a puddle of my own blood. I venture closer. It's definitely my own face on that body.

I notice that the emergency responders are here. But they have body bags. Two of them to be exact, one, currently open, for me, and the other, closed, I find to be my friend. She must have died from shock, everything was probably just too much for her.
