Chapter 5: Run

"Hey, Alby, we could really use you right about now. You know i'm not good at the whole talking thing." Joanna sighed as she watched Alby pant.

"Hey." Thomas said walking in with the girl, Newt and Minho.

"Hey. I'm Joanna. Do you know your name?" Joanna asked the girl.

"Teresa." She responded giving her a weird look. Strange.

"She found these in her pockets, we think it might help." Thomas said showing Joanna the Blue vials.

"We can't give something to him if we don't know if it will even work." Newt said, looking at Joanna.

"It's worth a try, N, he's already better off in the Maze." Joanna said quietly.

He nodded and Thomas walked forward and sat next to Alby. Just as he was about to inject him, Alby jumped up grabbing him.

"YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE! Alby shouted at Thomas. "I SAW YOU!"

"Grab him!" Joanna ordered the boys and they grabbed him trying to holding him down.

Joanna grabbed the vial out teresa's hand and stabbed it in Alby's chest. The liquid disappeared into his veins.

Alby passed out, his breathing slowing down.

"I can't believe that worked." Minho huffed, letting go off Alby's arm.

"Someone needs to stay here and watch him at all times." Newt told Jeff.

Gally walked in with a torch. "Night time, Greenie. Let's go." He looked at Alby slowly.

Thomas sighed and walked off with Gally.

"Minho will show you where to sleep." Joanna said to Teresa. She nodded and they walked out.

"Something's definitely not right." Newt said to Joanna.

Joanna looked at him. She took off her mask and walked out.

"Gally wait!" She shouted and marched towards Thomas.

She swung her fist out and punched Thomas round the face and then grabbed his shirt and pulled him into her.

"What the hell?" Thomas exclaimed. Gally just stood and watched completely shocked.

"Right, Thomas. You listen to me now okay?" Joanna started. "You see my face? You see what those things can do to you? I'm blind in one eye because of those beasts. I have had two people get stung in broad daylight and tell me that they saw you, that this is your fault and that you shouldn't be here. Then I have a girl come up who knows who you are. And the box isn't going back down. So I need you to tell me now. What do you know?!" Joanna whisper shouted.

"I don't know! Okay! I swear! I don't know! I'm just as confused as you are!" Thomas swore, shaking.

"I'm not buying it." Gally stated.

"And you! I know what you think! But you need to watch your tone with me! Do you understand?" Joanna turned to Gally. He gulped and nodded at her.

"Take him to the pit. Then go to bed and say nothing to no one." She ordered Gally.

He nodded and took Thomas to the pit. She turned around and sighed, rubbing her face. She watched Gally walk away to his hammock and she made her way to the pit.

"Hey." She said as she sat down next to the door.

"Hi." Thomas replied, unsure of what to say.

"I'm sorry." Joanna sighed and looked at him.
