Prologue

For but a few seconds, uncertainty had taken over my thoughts. The madman who called me his son had built something called a Stasis Pod. A machine that would negate the effect of the universe to those who entered its chamber.

At first, after being told the machine's purpose, I was convinced that Father built it just so he could live longer. It wasn't irrational, after all, most living beings spend almost half of their life sleeping, still suffering from the effects of oxidation and the consequential cell regeneration. If one could simply stop suffering those times of inactivity, their lifespan would increase exponentially.

However Father explained to me that he didn't have much time left in this world, and so he revealed that he made it, gesturing towards the machine, so that I could finally fix everything in safer times.

He led me to the room that had his equipment, the machines that replaced my flesh limbs for metal ones, and told me to stay while he fetched something in his laboratory. I complied, and stood silent in that room. I observed the machines, remembering every time they were used on me. I remember the times that they would operate on the robotic parts that I couldn't feel. I remember the times when they would operate on me because the pain wasn't enough to make me go into shock. I remember the times I would wake up dissected because Father had forgotten to put enough anesthetics to keep me unconscious through the entire procedure. And so i waited and remembered.

Father would return with two small devices. I didn't recognize them, though I saw that one was blue and the other was red. He used a machine to open my metallic arms, and inserted the blue device in my right arm and the red one in my left arm. He told me these devices were the key to put an end to this Hell on Earth, as he called it.

And so finally the time to enter the machine came. Before I did, Father told me something.

'My last order is that you follow the instructions I will write in my private computer. I will clear the desktop and leave one document named 'Finality'. The instruction will be written there. Goodbye.'

And so, I entered the pod. It was small enough for only one person to fit. I waited, and after a few moments, I could feel a strange energy surrounding my body. As soon as it happened, my vision started slowly turning white, until that was all I could see. For a single moment, my world lost all of its shapes and colors.

And in that single moment I had a dream.

I saw a kaleidoscope of colors. I saw stars connected by energy like nerves connected to each other. I saw impossible utopias and desolating isolation. I saw so many things in that moment that it would be impossible to describe everything I saw.

And the last thing I saw was a window with a creature on the other side. It was unlike anything I had ever seen. His body was made of solid white light, yet no matter which angle I saw him from, that light would disperse into innumerable colors at the extremities. Its body was segmented at his articulations, like its skin was plating in an armor, and in those holes I saw a great abyss. I wore regal clothes of purple, red and gold, yet underneath all of them was an impenetrable black armor.

It spoke to me, and I spoke to it. I told him of what was and went. It spoke of what is and will be. The last thing it did was gift me with its wisdom.

'Nothing you do or say will matter now. None of your actions have meaning. You, along with those who suffer from existence, are burdened with the same curse. The curse of a slave.'

And so, a moment passed.

And so, color returned to my world.

________

And so ends the prologue.

I really wanted to compensate those who were waiting for me to write anything, so I tried to write the prologue to this story one day after it released.

It's probably not enough, but I kinda have a solution for that. From now on, I will TRY to write a chapter every weekend that I can.

The 'I can' part is because I play Destiny 2 on my free time. Sometimes the game has an event that lasts a single week so I don't think I can focus on writing in that kind of situation.

Anyway, goodbye for now and, hopefully, see you this weekend.
