I laughed as Adam splashed the water at me. I felt something fuzzy rub against my leg and I looked down at Anna. I picked up the kitten, cradling her in my arms. Adam went back to finishing the dishes while Grandma Maddie snored in her rocking chair, Lucky comfortably cuddled in her lap. I looked at the stack of books on the table beside the window and I saw Shadow chewing on the paper cover of the books.

"Adam, Shadow loves you." I laughed.

He turned and yelled as he ran to the aid of his defenseless books. He put Shadow down on the floor and tapped him lightly on the nose.

"Bad Shadow." He said sternly, but the kitten just walked to the couch and went to sleep.

I smiled as Adam came back to finish his work. I put down Anna and looked out the window. About five months ago, I finally convinced my parents to let go of my arranged marriage and it really helped to know the Prince of Voodoo Land loved someone else as well. Now I freely came to visit Adam and every passing day I felt my love for him grow stronger. I just can't wait to finally call him mine.

I looked down at left hand, the gold band shining on my finger. Thankfully that day isn't far away anymore. I looked at Adam and giggled when I saw him cuddling with Shadow and Anna on the couch. He will soon be completely mine, we could be a family and no one could pull us apart this time. No more Romeo and Juliet.
