"Jessie Davis is his name." Eric said as he walked through the doorway. Kyle close behind him began scribbling into his clipboard. "Any references?" Kyle asked. "His boss and his mother." "Numbers?" "719-671-3046 is the moms and 719-304-7413 is the boss's." Eric said. Kyle scribbled down the numbers on his clipboard.
The two entered his office and sat down. Eric turned the phone toward Kyle and pushed it forward. Kyle grabbed the phone off the jack and dialed the first number he scribbled down. The phone rang and a lady picked up. "Hello?" A soft voice asked. "Hello, ma'am. How are you today?" Kyle asked. "Oh, well I'm doing well! How about you, young man?" The lady asked. "I'm doing well. I was just calling to ask if you've talked to your son, Jessie Davis, lately. That is your son, correct?" Kyle asked. "Oh! Yes! That's my boy. What did you need him for?" "Well, we're calling from Landline Corp, we needed him to pay his phone bill but we can't get a hold of him. Do you know where he is? If so, we could just send a client down there for a signature."
"Oh! Yes, of course! He should be down by the diner, Lenny's, I think. He should be having brunch with my granddaughter!" Kyle's face grew pale. "Okay, ma'am, thank you very much. You have a wonderful day." "You too!" She exclaimed. Kyle hung up the phone and held his chin in his hand.
"Hmm." He sighed. The two sat in silence for a while. "We'll get him later. Don't wanna mess with his daughter. Didn't even know he had one." Eric said. The two sat in silence once more.
Kyle and Eric lifted their heads at the sudden crash of the door. "Kenny's getting into another fight!" Stan yelled. He quickly ran out of the doorway and slammed the door behind him. "Shit." Eric said.Eric and Kyle came running out of the front door to see Stan cheering Kenny on as he fought another man. "Hey, hey, hey. What's this all about?" Eric shouted. He put his hand in between the two and all of a sudden, the man swung at Eric, and hit him square in the face.
"Uh-oh." Kyle whispered to himself. The two paused as they looked up at Eric. Eric slowly looked down at the two. "Get the hell off my property before I make you." The man stood there. "You hear me? Go!" Eric shouted. The man shuffled to his car and began to turn it on. The four of them watched as the man backed out and left the lot.
"Seriously?" Eric asked as he rubbed his face where the man hit. Kenny chuckled awkwardly with a bloody nose and bloody mouth.
"Sorry, boss." "You said that the last time." Eric said, walking off. "I'm busy. I don't need this right now. You need to get your shit together." Eric said as he walked back in. Kenny dropped his smile fast as the rest walked in. He began to feel bad as he walked to his car and turned the key.
