Eric sat in his office, smoking his cigar. He'd scroll through clients in his computer while Craig and Tweek talked in the chairs across from him.
Outside his office were Victor and Kenny. They sat in the chairs waiting outside the door. "How many shifts is this now?" "Two." Kenny's eyes widened. "How many did you do before your switch?" "Three." Kenny's eyes grew even wider. "Wow."
"I'm used to it. When I was a kid, I would stay awake until I wasn't grounded anymore. That way I had a good heartfelt and lengthy apology ready for them." Kenny lowered his head. "And I used to wait for Tolkien to come back to the shop while he stalked some people."
Kenny looked to his side. Victor looked down at Kenny. "What?" He asked. "This conversation just got really sad. That's all." Kenny chuckled. "Oh. Well it's not sad." Victor said.
"To me it is." Kenny looked up at Victor. "Did I ever tell you I hated your parents?" Kenny said. Victor's eyes grew wide. He looked to his side. "No. No, you never told me that." He muttered. The two sat in silence for a while.
"Did I ever tell you I hated your parents?" Victor said. Kenny looked up at Victor and smiled. "No. No, you didn't." "Well I did. With all my heart." Kenny looked down at his hands. "You were the only one I had."
Kenny paused. "And after we went our separate ways, Tolkien replaced you. But I lost him too. I lost him a long time ago. Or at least the Tolkien I knew."
Kenny looked at Victor, but he never looked away from the distance. "That sounds like me and Eric. Except Eric was my Tolkien." Victor finally looked over at Kenny. "And who was your Kenny?"
"You." He said. Victor smiled. "And now we're back. That's all that matters." Kenny looked away from Victor and out the window. Despite this, Victor never looked away.
"You know, despite the circumstances, I'm really glad we found each other." Victor said. Kenny smiled to himself, away from Victor. "Yeah, me too."
Eric burst through the door beside Kenny and turned. "We're going to Grant's. On me." He turned back and continued to the front door. Victor and Kenny exchanged looks, then shrugged and proceeded behind them."And one day, Tweek came to knock on the door, and he slipped on the steps! It was the funniest thing, I got it all on video!" Craig exclaimed. Tweek put his chin in his palm in embarrassment.
Craig pulled up his phone and clicked on a video. "Doorbell view. Got everything." He said, chortling. As soon as Tweek fell, the group busted up laughing.
"Oh, come on honey. You know that was funny." Craig turned to Tweek. "Yeah. I guess." He said. "I'm gonna go play pool. Who wants to come with?" Eric said, getting up from his seat. "I'm a killer at pool." Kenny said as he scooted his chair backward. Victor followed after Kenny and pushed his chair in. "You wanna bet?" He asked. Kenny smiled.
The three walked to the pool table, and Clyde followed after. Eric grabbed a triangle off the hook and collected the balls. "Who's on whose team?" Kenny asked.
"I'll be with Eric." Clyde said. "Ah. Leave the two fatasses together, eh?" Eric chuckled. "Hey. Not as chunky as you, big guy." Clyde laughed. "Well, how about I go with Eric. You can go with Clyde, Kenny." Victor said.
"Oh. Okay.." Kenny said. He knew he wanted to play him, and so did Kenny. "You better be as good as you say you are Kenny." Eric said, lifting the triangle.
"Alright. Grab your sticks." He said. He turned and grabbed a stick, and so did the others. "You go, Victor. I organized." Eric said. "Alright." Victor bent over and positioned his stick, and shot.
Spheres were sent flying, and a few stripes went in as well as a couple solids. "Stripes." Victor called. Eric nodded.
Kenny went next. He looked for a solid that was closer to a pit, and found one in blue. Kenny walked around the table, and passed Victor. The two locked eyes, and Victor smirked. Kenny leaned on his stick, and looked up.
Victor was looming over Kenny on the other side with his palms on the rim. He watched intensively. Kenny looked back down at the ball, and struck.
The white ball shot forward and hit the blue, but it bounced too far to the right and hit the corner, reflecting backward. "Dammit!" Kenny shouted. Victor chuckled. "That was so on purpose!"
"What are you saying?" Victor asked. Kenny felt a lump in his throat, and kept it to himself with a sour face.
"My turn!" Eric said with a hearty smile. He walked around the table and stopped, aligning his stick with a red ball. He leaned over, and struck. The ball went straight, and fell into its pit.
Kenny rolled his eyes. "Still got it." Eric said. Eric continued and found one in green. Kenny watched as the green ball went into the pit. Next, he found a yellow one. He missed.
"Bout time." Kenny muttered. Clyde stepped forward. "Hmm.." Clyde hummed to himself as he looked around. He found the 7. Clyde hunched over his stick and struck. The ball went straight, and fell into the pit.
Kenny looked up at Victor as Clyde continued. The two exchanged very competitive looks. Clyde missed his second. Once Clyde cleared from the table, Victor emerged from his corner. He carefully scoured the table, and found one in blue.
Victor ducked down and struck, sending the blue ball straight for the pit. He continued, and found the one Eric missed. He launched for that one, and it went. Victor would still walk on to strike his third, but his fourth didn't make it. As Victor left the table, Kenny stared at the back of his head with sour pettiness.
Soon after everyone continued playing, only the 8 ball was left. Victor was on to play, but he had something else in mind.
Victor hunched over his stick and looked up at Kenny. He watched with dull eyes. Victor smirked a little. He looked back down at the ball and struck. The white ball hit the 8, but it went left.
"Victor!" Eric shouted. "Oops." He said. Victor slowly walked back into his dark shadow, enduring Eric's mindless bickering. Kenny smiled a little to himself as he continued. He struck, and sure enough, the ball went through. "Woo-hoo! Good job, Ken!" Clyde said. The two exchanged a high-five.
"Good game." Victor shook Kenny's hand. "Yeah. Good game."
