Previously in 'Ghost of You':

IZUKU!" I wailed out one last time before I was overwhelmed with a tremendous pain, my world spinning and fading to black. The last thing I felt was a crushing weight and the feeling of cold, wet blood dripping down my face.

------
Izuku POV:

I see Katsuki being crushed beneath the rubble, and I let out an angered scream, all of my powers lashing out. The pure force sent shockwaves throughout the air around me, striking and slamming the villains into buildings. I rush over to Katsuki, tears running down my face. Suddenly, a mass of shadows appear overhead.

"Young Midoriya, please let backup take care of him. We need to get you to a safe place," All Might assures me as he approaches, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder.

I am trembling with frustration and anger as I watch Nine and Shindo being carried out in cuffs. My entire being becomes feral, and the only thing I can think of is to harm them, to hurt them as they hurt Katsuki. However, as I dash towards them with Blackwhip, my vision becomes fuzzy and I start to plummet to the ground.

I look down and see blood gushing out of a gut wound. The sight of this, and the ground rushing towards me, sends ripples of nausea and shock throughout me. My body gives out before I can even reach the ground, as I lose consciousness.

---

I wake up to the steady beeping of a heart monitor. I feel an intense, aching pressure squeezing my head and body. I wince as I try to move around, peeking an eye open to see a bright, blinding light. I quickly shut my eyes again and groan as I grip my side. I can feel my heartbeat pounding through my head and my body covered in a sheen of sweat. My eyes shoot open as I feel a rush of nausea come over me. Black dots speckle across my vision as I abruptly lean over the edge of my bed. I hear footsteps rushing in as I vomit into the trash can.

"He's awake!" I hear a familiar voice shout out. My thoughts are still incoherent as I try to pinpoint who's voice that was.

My eyes widen and blink rapidly as I try to clear my double vision. I look around in a daze as the hazy blurs of color form into rigid figures.

"W-who...is it?" I ask, my voice hoarse and cracking as I speak.

"It's us, you know, your fellow pro heroes?" The voice says, a hint of concern in the feminine voice.

"Yeah, yeah. Where's everyone else? Is Kacchan okay?" I croak out, finally being able to identify the figure as Mina.

"They're both... okay." Mina replied, glancing at the ground and staring at her feet. The nurse soon came in and demanded that I be alone for a few minutes.

I can't help but feel uneasy by Mina's tone, but lay back in my bed nonetheless. No matter how many questions I had, my body and the pain would not let me ask them.

The nurse checks my vitals and rewraps my wounds with bandages before heading out of my hospital room, the door swinging shut behind her. I found out that I have head trauma, a large laser wound in my side, and some broken ribs. I probably won't be able to go back to work for a few months...

I sigh and lay my head back on the pillow provided, before I hear the sound of my door swinging open. I lean my head forward as much as possible, but don't see anyone standing in the open doorway. I close my eyes and pinch the bridge of my nose, before slowly blinking my eyes open once more.

My eyes widen and fill with tears at the sight of Katsuki as he rushes over to my bedside. I see some bandages wrapped around his head and body, causing even more tears to spill and blur my vision.

"K-Kacchan? You're alive!" I gasp and clench my fist around his hospital gown, pulling him in for a hug. After a few moments of sobbing, Katsuki pulls away and smiles softly. He brushes some stray hairs from my face and offers me a sad smile.

I can't help but notice how pale he looks, most likely from the blood loss. His touch also feels lighter than usual. I tilt my head and furrow my eyebrows as I take note of the lack of pigment in his skin. However, the moment I trail my fingers along his arm, his skin comes to life with color. Despite his warm presence, a cold, chilling air fills the room. A shiver runs down my spine, but I shake it off and grin back as Kacchan caresses my cheek. As Kacchan speaks, his smile turns into more of a grimace, his voice seeming lighter and fainter than normal.

"Izuku...a lot has happened. I'm so glad you're alive. It's a good thing you showed up...or I probably would've killed him. The things that scum did and said, it's just- Ugh, nevermind. You're still alive, and that's all that matters. You need some rest. Get some sleep, I'll wait for you" Katsuki says, stroking my cheek and planting a kiss on my forehead.

I grin and nod, closing my eyes as he gives me a final kiss. I hear his faint footsteps leave as I drift off into a peaceful sleep, resting easy now that I know he's okay.
