"You ready?" A small smile was placed on your face as you waited for Mel to finish getting ready. "Just my perfume and I'll be done, you can wait for me out in the car if you'd like" You nodded, leaving the house and placing the large picnic basket in the backseat of the jeep. You rested your head back against the seat, the cool air from the AC blowing out your hair. You fixed your top, then your skirt. Well, it wasn't really your skirt, it was Conan's. But it was too pretty not to wear out. Although when you wore it he was the only thing on your mind. Not like he already wasn't but it just intensified the thoughts of him that much more.
"Conan's skirt I see" You shrugged. "Appropriate for this picnic right?" "I guess so" she laughed, pulling out of the driveway and into a main road. "Olivia and Mads are already there, they said they're bringing their new friend" "Who? Iris?" She shrugged, turning on the radio before you got to the park.
"Okay, so it looks like it's gonna be a bit of a walk, I'm guessing 5 minutes? We parked on the opposite side" she sighed. But you guys had already paid for parking so you couldn't just go back and move the car.
"Okay well, let's go then" You carried the basket in your arms, the wind ticking your face as the smell of fresh-cut grass filled your nose. You put in an AirPod, giving the other one to Mel and playing some swift songs so the walk wouldn't feel as long.
You finally got there. Seeing Olivia laid out on the large blanket, canvases, paint, and fruit laid out on it. "I'm so glad y'all could make it!" She stood up, trapping you into a warm hug. "Hi, liv" Your face lit up, Madison walking over to greet you. "God, I missed you" You kissed her cheek, her smile brightening as the sun hit, the tree cooling you down with the shade.
"Where Conan? liv?" Olivia shrugged. "Conan?" You questioned. "Oh yea! I told Mel that I invited my friend. He's cool don't worry, I've known him for like a month now and we've gotten along really well" she shrugged. "Sounds familiar, what's his last name?" Mel asked, you now chewing on your lip. "Conan Gray" oh shit.
You looked down at your skirt, looking up at Melanie as she gave you a confused and concerned face. "Should I run?" She shrugged, hating that she couldn't help. Now you have to sit here, in front of your ex that you're still not even over. You were probably gonna cry as soon as you saw him. You knew you still loved him, and he definitely never stopped loving you. Your love died too quickly, it never faded out it just paused right in the middle.
"Hey, liv?" "Yea?" "How close is the nearest bathroom?" She paused for a second to think. "It's at least a 5 Minute walk, I think Conan went...oh! He's right over there" she smiled, sitting down on the blanket as she began to pull stuff out of the picnic basket. "Mel I-" "You'll be fine Y/n, just pretend like he's not here" You played with the rings on your finger, you knew you'd break down instantly.
But to your surprise you didn't, Conan walked up. Looking down at you with a bit of confusion. You just looked back down and continued what you were doing, pretending like your heart wasn't beating 60 times harder than it was before. "Oh, Conan! That's Mel and Athena, I'm sure y'all will get along" Liv was clueless, it wasn't her fault you guys really had no connections. Or at least you thought so.
"Hey! Conan, how do you know Liv?" Mel asked, his response short and simple. "We have the same producer" his voice, damn you missed it. You wouldn't admit it to anyone but you listened to his songs on repeat. The same lyrics engraved into your brain as if you were the biggest fan girl. They got old though, and you wanted to hear fresh words out of his mouth. The same words that gave you butterflies before things ended.
You're sure he already saw your skirt, his eyes practically burning holes into the fabric. You just scrolled on your phone as everyone talked, taking deep breaths so you wouldn't tear up.
