Episode 77/Chapter 80

Mia turned on her phone once she got to her dorm. She was quiet, careful not to wake Remi who was still sleeping. Her phone had a few new messages from Benjamin. Mia opened her phone to view the messages.

Block Soon
Don't tell anyone anything about your parents
Mia?
Please respond

Well damn. I already told Blyke. Arlo's known. My aunt and uncle also know...

Mia was thinking that Benjamin just needed everything under wraps until Bella was thrown into jail, but another glance at the messages confused her. Maybe it was because it was through text, but Benjamin referred to her as "Miss Mia" before. And if he needed Mia under a gag order, he would've told her when they were talking yesterday. Or maybe he forgot to?

It could've been because of what happened the previous night, but Mia felt something was off. It was Saturday, she could pop by the office, but it's not like this even concerns her.

But they are my parents...

Mia sighed to herself and changed into clothes that weren't bloody. She left the dorm again and walked toward the lawyer's office. She wore a hoodie and sweatpants this time, in case it was because of what happened to Seraphina and she could come back without being easily identified.

Mia bought a coffee from a nearby store and stood in front of the bus stop across the street from the office. She was pretending to wait for the bus while she was surveying the area. It looked normal, nothing was different.

Huh. I'm going crazy.

Mia downed the coffee while she waited for the bus. The bus finally arrived and she got on. It started driving. Mia glanced at the parking lot. The spots were labeled with some of the employees' names. The spot with Benjamin's name was empty.

Did he not come into work? Maybe his day off is Saturday.

Mia returned to the dorms and went back to her room, narrowly avoiding the police car that pulled up after Mia was inside. The coffee kept Mia awake so she decided to study to take her mind off of everything. She's studied for a while.

Knock-knock

"Mia?" Remi said.

"I'm here," Mia said.

Remi opened the door and Mia was in her pajamas like she came in late last night.

"Good morning," Remi said.

"Morning," Mia put her pen down and turned her chair to face the door properly.

"Hungry?"

"Yeah actually," Mia said. She just realized she hadn't had anything to eat for the past day.

"Should we get breakfast with Blyke and Isen?" Remi suggested.

"Sure."

They gathered at the usual burger place. This time Mia had the chance to dress normally. A tank top and shorts with a plaid sweater.

"So what'd you do last night?" Remi asked.

"Oh I-" Mia said but then stopped herself.

Uhhh, we're not supposed to talk about it.

The three looked at her, confused why she stopped talking.

"It's confidential," Mia said.

"Really?" Remi said.
