Nicholas Calypso

I pull into the emergency room parking lot and I get out of the car to help her get out. Her breathing is heavy she yells out in discomfort "I know Ma it's going to be okay" I say to her as doctors rush out with a stretcher to place her on.

"Sir how far along is she?" one of the doctors asks "She is 9 months she was due tomorrow but her water just broke" The doctor nods "That's good Mom I want you to breathe," she says as they take her to the back.

"We want you to wait here, Sir, and we will call for you when it's time for her to give birth" I was angry "She is about to give birth what the hell are you talking about?" I yell in frustration "It's okay Nick just do as they say" she tells me.

"But baby—" she cuts me off "it's fine just wait" I nod taking a seat in the waiting room.

I get on the phone with my sister "Hey Inanna"—— "Yes Nick what is it?"—— "Mel is giving birth and I'd appreciate it if you could come"—— "Of course, I will be right there"—— "Thank you" She hangs up the phone.

I bounce my leg up and down as I hear her crying and screaming knowing there's nothing I can do right now.

I see the hospital doors slide open and I see Inanna crying as she rushes in.

"Has it started yet?" she asks I shake my head "No not yet they will call me in when they are ready for her birth", I say to her, Her close friend Kelsey is also crying, and Jade is also crying.

The doctor peeps his head out "We're ready" he says as I rush into the room with her.

Her face is sweaty and she is hysterical "Baby I'm here" She looks at me and smiles "H-hi Nick" she says while hiccuping I wipe the sweat off of her and kiss her forehead.

I hold her hand "It's time for the birth" the nurse says as positions herself between Mel's legs "You got this, my love" I say trying to give her some courage as she pushes our kids out.

She starts screaming and crying "Ah!" she yells out in pain "Deep breaths baby," I say through her cries "Miss I want you to push!" the nurse yells "Push baby!" She squeezes my hand until it turns pale white "I can't do it" she breathes out.

"Yes you can baby I believe in you" she grits her teeth I'm afraid that she will break them "That's it I see its head," the nurse says as she has Mel push harder.

I hear a baby cry which brings tears to my eyes "It's a healthy baby girl" the nurse says. They take her to the table.

Mel starts to scream again "Get this baby out of me!" The doctor rushes back to her aid "Push miss!" she screams.

"There we go" She pushes the baby out I see our baby boy but he does scream "What's wrong with him Doctor?" I say confused about why he wasn't crying.

"Is everything okay?" Mel asks "Is our son okay Nick" I could hear the worry in her voice "I don't know baby but they're going to fix him" I say holding her hand.
