I wake up to her beside me smiling at me "what's with the smile my love?" I ask her as I raise her in the bed pulling her closer to me "nothing just happy to see you that's all" she said cuddling me more "me too" I kiss her head.

I look at her noticing something different about her, she meets my eyes "what?" She giggles "you seem different and what is it I don't know" I examine her closely "my love what did you do?" I go to touch her hair but stop "I change it back to my natural color" she touches my hand and places it on her hair and it's so soft that I would love to play with it every day.

I grab my phone to check the time when I notice the date February 20 her birthday "I'll go cook us breakfast yeah?" She nods turning on the tv.

I go to text my sister.

ME: hey.
ME: Today is Mel's birthday and I want to do something for it please help🙏

INANNA: okay, sure I'll help
INANNA: what do you want to do?

ME: I want to throw her a party for her
ME: can you and the girls come over to decorate?
ME: I'll take her out in the meantime to give you guys some time

INANNA: okay that will give us enough time

ME: thank you so much!

INANNA: anytime

I take out some breakfast foods "I want pancakes" she says which makes me jump "holy shit where did you come from?" She laughs "upstairs duh" she rolls her eyes walking over beside me and watching me intently as I move around the kitchen.

I notice she tries to hop on the counter which makes me laugh "it's not funny asshole" I look at her in shock "you know just for that I'm not helping you anymore you can suffer alone short stuff" she gasps dramatically.

"That was hurtful" she begin to fake cry "come on Mel you know I was just—" I turn to her to see her face full of tears "baby I'm sorry" I go hugged her which makes me pick her up and put her on the counter and she begins to laugh "works every time" she laughs.

She tricked me.

I smile going back to cooking "not funny Mel" she continues to laugh "you should've seen your face" I just roll my eyes.

"We're here for breakfast!" I hear squealing "you've got to be fucking kidding me" I whisper to myself "Aaron hi!" I hear her say "hi Mel" I squint my eyes at him "hello Mel!" I hear Nathan say "hi my favorite" I gasp "what about me?" I ask her "you then hurt my cousin's heart Mel" she giggles "no he hurt his own heart when he calls me short stuff" they gasp "you did not?" She nods " I have proof" she pulls out her phone.
