( A few hours later. )
7:15am
I yawned and shuffled around in the hospital bed with an IV attached to my hand, hanging from the equipment with the machine beeping in the room.
Zade closed the magazine and set it down on the table next to the half filled styrofoam cup of coffee and glanced up at me with dark purple bags forming underneath his eyelids.
"Tired?"
I yawned and then stretched my body in the small, stiff hospital bed. "We have been here for hours." I whined, exhaustedly.
"I'm ready to leave." My stomach rumbled loudly. "And maybe grab an early breakfast too on our way back to the house." I added.
I was tired and hungry. My body couldn't get comfortable in the hospital bed, it was hard with no cushion and their food turned my stomach.
When we arrived at the hospital it was crowded and filled with nurses and doctors yelling and rushing around the hospital in complete chaos.
People were getting rushed into the building with severe injuries and a few of them had third degree burned marks.
It wasn't until almost six in the morning when the hospital had quieted down and my name was called.
I had fallen asleep in the chair when the nurse came out for me. Instead of waking me up, Zade had scooped me up in his arms and carried my limp body to the back room.
And then, at six twenty five two nurses walked into the room and asked a few questions—the usual routine.
After she had left, the doctor came in and asked the name questions. He left, and the previous nurse returned and drew some blood, along with swabbing my throat.
Zade held my hand the entire time. I disliked needles.
It wasn't the part where the needle entered my body but it was more about the fact of seeing my own blood in that tiny clear tube coming from the tiny, thin needle.
He glanced down at his watch.
"We can grab something from the cafe across the street after this and be patient. There was an accident earlier that's why all the staff are occupied."
"How do you know that?"
"It's on the news. Car accident. Apparently seven people were injured."
I immediately felt sad and realized how selfish I had been about waiting when there were people with more serious illnesses and possibly fighting for their lives.
"I hope they're okay." I spoke softly.
"Should be. According to the article no one was severely injured. Everyone was able to get out of the car in time before the gas leaked after the crash and caused both cars to go up in flames."
I winced and my mouth dropped wide open. "Are you serious?"
It was a bit worrisome to think about, I mean, cars were for transportation to get from one place to another.
"Afraid so."
"Do they know what happened? Like did the driver fall asleep? Or drink?" I peered for more information, suddenly interested in the conversation and would do anything to make time pass by quickly.
"Actually yes." He reached for his phone from his jacket and scrolled through something on the screen.
His eyes squinted together. "Well there's a few articles here. But-" He paused and scrolled. "Here's one. So listen to this. According to this article the car stopped working and broke down in the middle of traffic."
