After my night and the amazing morning being with Akira, Me and my wolf were on the same page. Finally after months of being off I finally felt whole again. Unfortunately, I had a new set of problems to contend with.

I hadn't been sure if what woke me was truly another Lycan's presence in Kira's room or if it was just a dream. I called Nadia as soon as I left her room. She could get Kira out of the house so that my guards could check her room for any evidence.

The faint smell I noticed had dissipated but it didn't smell like a lycan I knew or even like a lycan at all. It felt the like whoever it was wanted to stay hidden. Could it have been the rogue?

Xander called this morning to tell me there was another spotting but again he proved elusive. It felt like a trap. Why was he being evasive?

The questions kept piling on.

Xander was in my office before I arrived.  I had beelined to my room to change before heading in but given the dumb smirk my beta had on his face it was evident he knew I had not spent the night alone either.

"So a little story time before we get started?" Xander rubbed his hands together and raised his eyebrows hoping for the tea.

My return stare was deadpan.

"Ok thennnnn. Report first I guess." He rolled his eyes before relaying last night's reports.

At least he picked up what I put down quickly.

Listening again on the rogue sighting and his consistent elusiveness pissed me off wiping away my earlier memories of my night with my soon to be wife. And that sent me to the edge.

"This is ridiculous Xander! Why haven't we caught him?! Someone was in her room last night! What if I hadn't been there?!"

"Hey whoa Dame, calm down."

"Would you be calm if this was Nadia?" I asked.

"That's different we're mates man. We're linked."

"She's her Xander she's my mate and I don't even know if I can mark her. If we can share what true mates have." I placed my face in my hands. "I can't lose what little I can have with her."

Xander was my best friend and my beta for reason. He pulled up chair and sat with me as I vented. No judgement. He just let me be angry and sad and scared. I wasn't royalty and I wasn't his Alpha I was just a lost man in love with a woman in the most impossible situation.

I didn't know how much time had passed when I finally felt empty of the weights that I had been carrying.

"Thanks Xand."

He gave my shoulder a pat and sent a sympathetic smile my way.

"Alright Alpha we have work to do now. Put your game face on and let's figure this shit out. We need our future king and queen safe."

Xander always had a way of getting me on track. He would have made an excellent Alpha.

Before long everything was moving. Our investigators had received the go ahead to check out the Princess's room from Nadia. Xander was arranging for an increase in palace patrol. And an extra security team was deployed to be with Nadia and the two princesses. I wasn't taking any chances until I knew for sure who this rogue was after.

Somewhere in all this mess I still needed to get fitted for my suit. It seemed like a ridiculous notion given the fact that we were on high alert.
