My mind seemed sluggish as my conscious thought slowly returned. I supposed if I was dead there'd be no inner voice telling me everything was hurting.

Pain. Surely that wasn't normal after you die.

I attempted to open my eyes but they seemed so heavy. The second attempt yielded bright lights blocking my vision. I blinked them closed again.

"...Akira?..."

Ok my hearing was back. I tried to focus on the sounds around me. Faint beeping. Distant noises. I attempted to open my heavy eyelids again. This time only one. Brightness flooded my one open eye and I blinked it a few times as it adjusted. A blurry face popped into view, startling me a moment before a soft hand landed on my check rubbing it slowly.

Damon.

I knew immediately that it could be no one else. I blinked a few more times the lines of his face becoming less blurry with each blink.

Finally there he was. My prince.

Tears began to fall without me meaning them too. I thought I'd never seen him again. I let my mouth repeat my thoughts to him.

Damon wiped my tears away, he was smiling at me but the dark circles around his eyes gave him away.

"I'm so sorry I wasn't there sooner to protect you, I shouldn't have let you leave without me."

"No Damon it's ok it's not your fault."

"It was. It was all my fault. I have so much to tell you. Things I should have told you sooner."

Before he had a chance to start any type of explanation a women in a white coat came into the room.

She introduced herself as Dr. Devin and explained to me that I was shot, my artery nicked and my bone broken. She looked like she wanted to say more but I saw Damon shake his head at her before she told me that if I needed anything the nurses would contact her.

"What was that Damon?" I asked curious at what he was keeping from me.

"I told you I would explain everything. I promise. But first there's a lot of people that are here to see you."

Damon called the nurse letting her know I was ready for those waiting to see me. I'm sure had we been anyone else they wouldn't have let so many people in at once.

Damon's parents arrived first with a giant bouquet of flowers. Nadia and Liana brought me chocolates. Asher and Xander brought in a get well card. They all hugged me while apologizing for not keeping me safer. But it was no one's fault except the woman who had done this to me.

I briefly wondered what had happened to Callie, so far the last thing I remembered was screaming but wether that was mine or hers I couldn't place.

After awhile everyone said their good-byes but Xander lingered behind.

"It's time Xander bring him in." I looked at Damon questioningly as he spoke to Xander who nodded before exiting.

Before the door closed another tall man came into my room. I had never seen him before but he seemed so familiar to me.

I looked between the two men in the room Damon and this stranger.

"There are things she doesn't know yet." Damon spoke to him and irritation crept up about these things he kept promising to tell me.

The stranger nodded at him before turning to me.

"Hi, I'm your uncle Kylo."

My jaw dropped. I couldn't believe my ears and my eyes. The man continued.
