Chapter 15 - Happy

Lydia was nervous about going to work the next day. When she arrived she went straight to Jane's office and knocked on the door.
"Morning Lydia, is everything OK?" Jane asked politely.
"Morning Jane. Yes it's more than OK actually. I'm the happiest I've been for a long time" Lydia said honestly.
"That's great to hear. So how can I help you?" Jane asked. Lydia took a deep breath.
"I need to give you this" she pulled out a white envelope from her pocket and handed it to Jane, "it's my letter of resignation".
"What?! No Lydia..."
"I'm sorry Jane but I have to do this. I'll work my notice and make sure everything is handed over to the right people properly" Lydia assured her.
Jane begrudgingly took the envelope and opened it, reading the letter inside.
She sighed, "she really means a lot to you doesn't she?"
Lydia smiled, "Yeah she does. We love each other".
"Well I'm really sorry to see you go Lydia. You've been an amazing agent. I wish you the best of luck for the future, both of you".
Lydia was touched by Jane's words but she had chosen Jenna over her job and she knew in her heart it was the right choice.
"Thanks Jane and thank you for everything you've done for me. You gave me a chance when I needed it and I'll be forever be grateful for that".
"Oh stop it you're gonna make me cry!" Jane said, tearing up and giving Lydia a hug.
They discussed a couple of work-related matters then Lydia headed to the door to leave.
"Are you sure I can't convince you to stay?" Jane asked in hope.
"I'm sorry but no. I love my job...but I love Jenna more".
