Bethany

My lips ache and my skin burns. All in the places I wish Kaden was touching again. It's been a couple of days and I can't get him out of my head. I honestly considered skipping marketing class today to avoid him for just a little longer. But I won't allow my grades to suffer because of him. I'll have to put some ice on it for now.

I sit in class at my desk with my hood over my head, shielding my view of him. Hopefully, he can't see my face. He hasn't said a word to me yet. Why? No, no this is good. I don't want him to talk to me. I might crumble at the sound of his sexy voice because it is just a reminder of what we almost did. Almost.

Kaden Kell will not be my first. For anything.

As soon as class ends, I jump up from my desk, but he grabs my arm. Speaking for the first time in over an hour. "Can we talk?" He asks. No sarcasm, no charm, just an honest question.

I eye him up and down, blinking when I reach his eyes. An unsettling feeling fizzes in my stomach and all I can do is shake my head. Speed-walking out of class, he remains on my heels.

"Bethany, please, let me talk to you."

"No," I say still walking, not looking back. Walking through the courtyard to meet Cam again.

"Please, I just want to apologize."

"I don't wanna hear it." My hood falls back off my head with how fast I'm walking. My hair is probably a mess but I don't care.

Cam is standing by the coffee cart but is still waiting in line. Great. Just great.

"I'm sorry, Bethany."

Cam turns towards us, his smile falls to a frown.

"I'm sorry I saw your naked ass."

My feet skid to a halt and Cam's brows furrow. His mouth opens and closes. "I'm sorry what?" He stammers.

"Can we just talk please?"

"You—you saw her ass?" A little more shock thickens Cam's words.

My face turns bright red and Kaden glances between Cam and me, wearing his usual smirk now.

Oh god, is he picturing me naked again? I'm mortified I can't even see straight.

"Will someone tell me what the fuck happened?"

I stare at Kaden but he stares at me, cocking his head towards Cam like he's waiting for me to explain everything to him. I will, but not here. Not when all of the people in line for their coffee are already getting a free show. And for some reason, a couple of girls in the line are glaring at me. I don't even know them.

"You saw her ass?" Cam asks again and Kaden lets out a short laugh.

I grab Cam's arm, still looking at Kaden. "Bye," I grumble under my breath before dragging Cam away.

"Wait," Cam pleads, glancing over his shoulder. "What the hell happened?"

"I'll tell you later."

***

I spent my entire Tuesday night reliving my weekend all over again by telling Cam everything that happened. All I wanted to do was watch reruns of The Bachelor, but he said my life is much more exciting than reality TV.

Honestly, right now, it feels like I'm living someone else's life. I need to get back on track. Get my mind straight and focus on what really matters which is school. My education. My future. I need to stop thinking about men. Well, only one in particular.

So, to get myself back in line, I spend Wednesday night in the library studying. It gets me in a good frame of mind. I'm there for a few hours and I get a lot done. The time flies and it feels like only a few minutes. But when I walk outside, the campus is pitch black. The sun was still out when I walked in here.

The night air is cool and I shiver while dropping my backpack from my shoulder to search for my car keys. I place it on the ground, crouching over I rummage through all my crap.

"Bethany."

My hands freeze. While still hunched over, I tilt around to look behind me. Speaking of men, Teddy Wilson is standing right behind me. Teddy Wilson. Oh my God!

I straighten my body and spin to face him. "Hi, Teddy," I say with a little too much enthusiasm.

He chuckles and runs his fingers through his perfectly quaffed blond hair. "Getting some studying done?"

"Oh yeah, always." I smile a bit bigger.

"Yeah me too, I'm meeting up with a study group for Finance." He glances at the library doors and then back to me. "Have you taken it yet?"

I shake my head. "No, it's been full every time I want to sign up. I will next semester though."

"Oh, cool." He tugs on his backpack strap. "Well, I should get in there. See you around." He shoots me another grin before heading inside.

My heart slams into my ribcage and I choke out a breath. He has the most perfect smile it'll make any girl weak in the knees. It has that effect on me right now. I can barely stand straight. On wobbly legs, I turn around, letting out a shaking breath. When I do, my entire body stills as Kaden stands in front of me now.

"Now I see why you had no interest in kissing me the other night," he says nonchalantly with his arms crossed over his chest.

"Wh—what are you talking about?" I stammer, picking my bag up off the floor.

He uncrosses his arms. "You're into Teddy Wilson."

"How do you know him?"

"He's a friend of mine.

"Oh," I respond with a breath.

He smirks again. "I can't believe a girl like you would be interested in a guy like Teddy Wilson."

Hearing Kaden say his name makes my heart sink a little. I don't know why.

"A girl like me?" I scoff and he nods. "Why wouldn't I be? Teddy is intelligent, funny, good-looking—"

"I'm sure you know all about him."

Ugh! I hate this guy. I can scream, but a couple of people walk out of the library, so I keep my cool.

"Yeah, the dude might be all those things, but he likes his girls a little more... Experienced. He likes girls that like to have fun."

"Fun. I have fun."

He laughs and heat rises to my cheeks. "Sure you do, Doll."

"I do!"

"Then prove it," He steps closer to me. Familiar images flash through my mind and my thighs squeeze together. For a moment, all my thoughts of Teddy disappear from my mind. "Come to a party with me on Friday."

"A party? With you?" I sneer.

He nods. "Parties are fun. You said you have fun right?"

I can't let him win. I can't let him be right about me. I know how to have fun. I can go to a party and have fun. I can. If it will shut this guy up then... "I'm in."
