He IMAGINED we would leave this way, I could see it clear in Tomo's face.
He didn't speak a word as we walked along the shoreline. I kept my eyes glued to the ground.
The air was so sickeningly thick. Grains of sand shimmered gently, like white diamonds hidden among a sea of gold. Tama ran ahead, her little paws barely making a sound on the ground. Seagulls screamed, soaring in the sky and making a ruckus that put any of the cat's temper fits to shame.
This was awkward.
Awkward and irritatingly loud.
I was still grateful in some way, that I could still even experience awkwardness and irritancy at all. I wasn't so grateful that it was Tomo I had to experience it with.
He cleared his throat.
"We'll wait here for a waverider. You can sit around and wait." He pressed the red gem in the centre of the anchor, it levitated and a deep sapphire began to crawl across its jewelled surface.
"What about you?" I asked.
"What about me?" He snapped.
"What will you do?"
"Wait. And you didn't seem to think about me when you caused that scene."
A long silence passed between us.
"What am I waiting for?"
"No, [F/n]. I'm waiting for the waverider, that isn't what I meant." His fist tightened and then released.
"Archons, you can be so stupid sometimes you know." He continued, muttering off.
Oh, is that how it is?
"Sorry." I paused, "I didn't mean to make you mad."
"Well, you did. Now we have to somehow find elsewhere. Do you know how difficult it was to hide our visions? Whatever, don't worry." He threw the glowing ball at me, its frame stuck out of the sand.
