Distant

(Y/n) has been pulling hairs out over the last 84 days.
Her boyfriend was sent to prison and she didn't know if she'd ever see him again.
Not to mention the team said he hasn't asked about her, not even once.
Spencer changed; that much she knew without being told.
Unfortunately she didn't know the extent until she saw him.

Spencer opens his apartment door and (Y/n) stands up from the couch.
"Spence." She whispers and looks him up and down.
His hair is longer and his facial hair is grown out too.
He looks so worn out.
Tears stream down her cheeks as she smiles.
"You're home."
His expression is neutral as he walks past her.
This confuses her but she brushes it off.
Once he gets to the bedroom and lays down she figured he just wanted to sleep in a comfortable bed and get some sleep without worrying about anything.

The problem though is that he continues to be distant and hardly speaks to her.
It began to feel like she was with a stranger.
And to Spencer that's how it was.
He is different than before, and not for the better.
This goes on for months.
Finally (Y/n) snaps.

"Spencer why are you acting like this?"
"Like what?! Like a man who just got out of prison?"
"You're supposed to rely on me, not distance yourself from me. You act like you don't even know me or that I'm just in your way."
"I have a lot going on. I think it's pretty normal to act like this."
"You're acting like an ass."
"Then leave. I'm not asking you to stay here. I don't want your help or your company frankly. It would be easier if I could do my job in peace without you breathing down my neck all of the time."

Tears well in her eyes and fall slowly.
As the two stare into each other's eyes (Y/n) slowly nods.
"Ok," she whispers. "I'll leave you alone." She slowly packs a suitcase then leaves the apartment.
Penelope hesitates to open her door when she hears a slow knocking. "(Y/n), sugar cube what's wrong?"
"Can I stay here for a while?" The woman asks instead.
The blonde frowns but nods quickly. "Of course. Come in, come in." She moves and the (h/c) walks in.
They hug while the girl cries softly.

As the weeks went by Spencer began to feel bad.
Finally he realized he was in the wrong and needed to apologize.
As the sun is just starting to set Spencer knocks on Penny's door.
The blonde opens the door and smiles softly. "Hey. You wanna come in?"
"Penny, who's at the door?" (Y/n) asks, walking over with a drink in hand.
The genius looks at his girlfriend and frowns. "I'm sorry for interrupting."
"No it's ok. I'll give you two some space." Penelope hurries away, taking (Y/n)'s glass.

The said woman looks at her boyfriend.
"I almost died. I thought my mom was killed. I thought Kat was pregnant with my baby. I didn't know if I was guilty or innocent. But most importantly I don't want to put any of this on you."
"Spence, that's my job." She whispers and cups his cheek. "I'm supposed to help you in any way I can. Even if it's just listening to your problems; even if I can't help. I love you Spence."
"And I love you." He whispers and his voice cracks. He quickly walks over and hugs her tightly.
(Y/n) wraps her arms around his waist, hugging back.

"How about tonight I make us dinner and we can just relax. No work, no worries."
Spencer smiles and takes up her offer. He helps her pack, thanks Garcia for helping out then the couple goes home.
(Y/n) makes his favorite.
He smiles as he watches.
They sit on the couch and eat.
Her legs rest across his lap and her head leans back on the couch.
Spencer smiles at her legs then her face. "Comfortable?"
The woman giggles and nods. "Very."
