"Winged, time for school!" my mother calls for me.
"Coming!" I, a black scaled dragon, groggily calls back.
I start my day by entering my bathroom shower. The coolness of the shower brought me out of my doze. The doze was about the reason why I had to transfer schools.
It was all because of a villain fire dragon with black and golden scales. The dragon was named after its race, Flame. He was a menace to my old city. He had burned down my family's house. On that day, my family and I had to recover our items that weren't burnt and undamaged. It wasn't a lot, but it was enough to get out.
Being in that city meant trouble for all who lived there. The crime rates are high and the job payments are low. Moving to this new town has been the best for my family. The payment from jobs is higher and the crime rates are even lower. My fate for a bad school had changed to a normal school.
The Peaks of Fire High-school; this was a famous place of many well-known dragon racers. I didn't think this would be the school I would be attending, when my mother told me. Her words had gone from ear to ear before I could understand what she had said.
Quickly eating the eggs and sheep, me and my mom started our travel to the school. The flight there was easy. The winds were calm and no storms in sight. The sun glittering rainbow all over my dark scales.
The Peaks of Fire was in sight now. The looming mountain peaks over the still clouds was a magical sight to be seen. Ancient towers of the past were with the mountain peaks. Great towers of stone with arches stabilizing the Peaks of Fire.
My mother and I landed on a pathway that leads towards the great peaks. Other dragons of different colors and sizes were wishing a goodbye to their folks. Some warmlings hugging and crying their folks, for this school also holds caverns for those who have to stay for the year.
This deep feeling started as my mother gave me a hug and spoke words of encouragement.
Getting to class was heart racing. There were dragons everywhere, almost no room to fly to one of the great towers.
My first class of the day is 'Fire Breath'. It's a class to work on fire breathing and control the smoke produced by it. The only way I found the class was the dragons practicing fire breathing on a flat part of the roof.
I enter the classroom's big wooden doors, most of the class is already there. They stop talking as I enter the room more.
"Everyone!" the teacher with small reading glasses rawrs, "This is your new classmate. Treat them with respect."
The teacher turns his great head towards me. "What's your name, little one?" He questions me.
"Oh, um, Winged." I blunted out, "Winged Ras, sir."
"Alright, Mr. Ras take a seat anywhere."
I walk over to one of the empty seats near the back of the classroom. All of my new classmates were staring and whispering at me. When seated, the teacher introduces himself as Mr. Falkor. With his introduction done, he started the class with the basics of fire breathing and what damages can be caused by not being able to control it.
The bell of rawrs called to end the class. Every classmate starts putting their things away and takes off to get to their next class. I, on the other hand, had no idea where my next class was. Mr. Falkor was already gone to get to a meeting.
I see groups of dragons talking, and fly up to them.
"Excuse me, do any-" They had flown away.
I will try again, but with another group of dragons. This group was huge, at least ten dragons were there.
"Excuse me," I tried speaking.
The group looks at me with the eyes of get away from us.
Except one. A white, feather dragon.
"Yes?" He responds to me.
"Um, do you know where the class 'Dragon Magic' is?" I ask him.
"Yes, I do," he says, "It's in the tallest tower, to the North of the school." He points to one of the great towers. It was different from the rest, it had a blue tint to it.
"Ok! Thank you." I say with a happy tone. I start off in the direction.
The white feather beast started after me. Flying side by side to me.
"Hey, sorry about my friends. They aren't used to you yet. With all of your newness." I gave him a chuckle.
"Oh, it's alright. What's your name?" I question the white dragon.
"My name is Nip. We're in the same 'Fire Breath' class," he responds with a smile, "When do you have lunch?"
"I have it after 'Dragon Magic'."
"Same! Would you like to eat lunch with us?" Nip asks me.
I hesitated for a second, "Sure."
We arrived at the tower with a minute to sprade. Getting in and taking a seat, left us with the class starting.
After the 'Dragon Magic' class, Nip and I took a short flight down to ground level. Right in the center of the school. Normally dragons don't walk, but this was an exception since the cafeteria was on the ground level and couldn't be reached otherwise.
The smell of food reached my nose as we entered the doors to the cafeteria.
I got a medium cooked steak, while Nip got a cooked lamb.
Nip led me over to a table with almost ten dragons.
"Hey, guys!" Nip greets the table with a shiny smile, "This is my new friend, Winged." He introduced me to the group. I could tell they were trying to be nice by giving me these awkward and concerned smiles.
I waved back.
Getting seated I started eating, the group resumed their conversation; but I couldn't help but notice how quiet they were. As if to not upset me in some way.
"Winged, what are your other classes?" Nip asks me, as he is sitting right in front of me at the table, "I was wondering if we had more classes together."
We talked about how we had all of the same classes except for our fifth class.
Surprisingly, Nip stopped talking and seems to listen in on the others' conversations. Taking in their whispers and mumbles.
Nip slams his claws onto the table, making me jump a little.
"Will you guys stop talking about Winged!" He rawrs at the group. They all go silent. "It's what you guys have been talking about for the past 15 mins. It's starting to get on my nerves."
He takes a deep breath and tries to keep his temper down.
"If you're going to keep talking about him, atleast talk TO him." And with that Nip sits down.
I could feel their eyes piercing me. No talking, just staring. I think we could all feel the tension that is happening.
Nip clears his throat.
"Let's start this over, alright?" The table nods, "This is Winged," He points at me, "He is a lovely dragon who is nice and is NOT going to hurt you. You guys are going to talk to him. Got it?" He questions the group.
Once Nip stopped talking, one of the dragons came over and sat next to me. Then another got the other side, and the rest crowded Nip.
It feels weird to be at the center of the attention with all of the eyes staring at you, trying to see what they thought of you is true.
Then the questions came, asking where I had moved from, what my last school was, how school was treating me, and much more. I tried to answer all of their questions the best I could.
After all of their questions were answered, their energies changed to a much friendlier matter. The room felt lighter, as well.
Couple days have passed, and I sit with Nip and his friends now. They talk to me and help me get to all of my classes as I'm still getting used to the new school layout.
They are my friends now.
