FOR SOME REASON, ANGER began to fill Juniper up as she was harshly shaken awake by Katniss Everdeen, who stated Wiress from Three, the woman who had been saying tick tock for hours now, was a genius. And Juniper knew, to some extent, that the loony tribute was, but with her latest experiences with Wiress, she wasn't so sure.

But she was. She wasn't loony, but she wasn't right in the head. But everything became clear on why the woman had been singing hickory dickory dock and muttering tick tock over and over again. It was because the arena was a clock, as Katniss hurriedly explained to them, with the movements of the invisible hands triggering a deadly force in each section every hour.

The bells went off at midnight, like it had, and was followed by lightning, which lasted for an hour. Then it was blood rain. Fog. Monkeys. The first four hours on the clock. And then at ten, there was a tidal wave, which explained the humongous crashing sound Juniper heard earlier that day. Each hour begins a new horror and ends the previous.

"It makes sense." Finnick shrugged as he stood up, wiping sleep from his eyes. "Also makes sense why she's been tick-tocking."

"It was her only sense of communication," Peeta stated. "She can't speak properly so she had to get it across somehow."

"And as of right now, the blood rain is falling," Katniss explained as she pointed to a sector. "We're below the monkey segment, far too close to the fog. What if the attacks don't stay within the jungle?"

Juniper felt better than she had previously now she had food and water in her, but her brain was still slow to comprehend anything. Johanna was the same, but she seemed to naturally be opposed to liking anything the girl from Twelve suggested. And even after Katniss convinced everyone else, it still took time with Johanna and Juniper. But eventually, both women agreed it was better to be safe than sorry. They didn't really have the greatest track record with Wiress.

But Juniper did not want to experience poisonous fog or orange monkeys and so, Katniss was set to waking up Wiress, who seemed to be glad someone figured her out nonsense rambling, Finnick packing up their stuff, and Peeta to picking up Beetee.

"Wire," the man said, out of it still.

"She's right here," the boy told him. "Wiress is fine. She's coming, too."

"Wire."

"She's—"

"Not Wiress, idiot." Juniper rolled her eyes impatiently as she got up from where she sat, crossing the beach and picking up the cylinder of wire, which was still coated in a thick layer of blood. "This. He wants this. That's how he got cut, at the Cornucopia."

"I don't know what kind of weapon it's supposed to be," Johanna grumbled. "I guess you could pull off a piece and use it as a garrotte or something. But really, can you imagine Beetee garrotting somebody?"
