Fourty-eight days....
That's how long they've been stranded on this damn island with absolutely no signs of rescue. Fourty-eight fucking days.
Not to mention there's other people on this island aside from the survivors of Oceanic flight 815. Then there's the hatch with the button you need to press every 108 minutes or the world will supposedly explode. Richard doesn't believe it, but regardless, he and Jeremy are both rostered on just like everyone else to press the button.
But worst of all, James is still unaccounted for....
Jeremy and Richard have looked nearly everywhere for him, but still, there is no sign of him. One one single sign of the bastard.
Richard doesn't want to give up on looking for him, but... it has been a month and a half, and nothing. It's like he's just disappeared into thin air. But people don't just disappear into thin air like that. James is out there somewhere, he just knows it.
As the countdown flips down to 004:00, and the alarm begins to go off, Richard sighs as he begins entering the numbers into the computer. Both he and Jeremy are on shift at the hatch right now (although, Locke is somewhere in the hatch with them), and Richard really doesn't like it down here. On the one hand though, there is a working toilet, shower, washer and dryer, plus a few other appliances in here, so it is better in here than out on the beach. But... he finds it a little creepy down here. Feels like he's being watched, and he doesn't like it.
Getting up from the computer as the countdown flicks to 108:00, and makes his way into the little kitchen/living area. Jeremy is passed out on the sofa, while Locke is busy in the armoury doing... well, Richard isn't sure what he's doing. Nor does he really care to find out, as he makes his way into the pantry, grabbing a packet of crisps, and a random book off the shelf, before taking a seat on one of the chairs. Where he spends the next hour and a halfish minutes reading and just resting until he has to get up once more and deal with the button.
Then... after he's lost track of time and his break is very nearly over and he needs to get up once more to enter the numbers, there's some commotion coming from the entrance to the hatch. Which wakes Jeremy from his nap, and both Jack and Kate are making their way through the hatch towards the bedroom, carrying an unconscious man between them. An unconscious man who Richard quickly discovers is Sawyer.
Which is alarming, as Sawyer shouldn't be here. He had left on the raft with Jin, Michael, and his son, Walt barely a week ago now. He shouldn't be here, but still out on the raft (most likely), or ideally rescued and on a boat somewhere on the ocean directing rescue to the island's location. So if Sawyer is here, then that must mean that something bad has happened to the raft.
"What happened?" Jeremy asks, as he and Richard get up and trail along behind Jack and Kate. Locke following along behind.
However, they don't get any reply, just Jack shouting at them to get out of the way. Which they do, and make their way back into the living area. And telling Locke to go deal with the button as the alarm goes off.
Not knowing what the fuck is going on, and unsure of what the hell they're supposed to do now, Jeremy and Richard do the only thing they can do... sit down on the sofa, and stay out of the way.
They stay out of the way as Jack and Kate carry Sawyer out of the bathroom, and off down the hall towards the bedroom. Figuring if they tried to help, or ask what the hell is going on, they're just going to get shouted at to go away. So they stay right where they are.
Until Locke makes his way back into the living area with an unfamiliar man....
"Who the hell is he?" Jeremy asks, both he and Richard getting up from the sofa. "And what the fuck is going on?"
