I took a deep breath while looking up at the massive building. It was my first day at Banister Bane High School and I was probably the most nervous I've ever been. I think it's because this is a permanent move, unlike the others. I never had to worry about good first impressions because Dads work would relocate him every 6 months or so. But now he had gotten promoted, and that meant no more moving around.
I stopped staring at the school and headed inside, towards the office. I was nearly there when I heard shouting so I looked to my side and sure enough, there was a girl running down the hallway, trying to get away from the people who were yelling at her.
"You're such a loser! Why can't you just talk to anyone?!" One of the people shouted.
"Just go away and never come back!" Another yelled.
The girl ignored them as she ran past me so fast that I could feel the wind against my arms. I just looked at them. How could they say those things to her? She's just a girl. A beautiful one at that. I snapped out of it and continued towards the office

"Hi...I'm Luke." I said nervously to the boy who was sitting beside me in English.
"Hey you're the new kid right?"
I nodded.
"Awesome. I'm Dylan." He said, giving me a high five.
There. I had made a friend. I was doing okay.
The girl I had seen earlier walked in, rushing towards the back of the room.My eyes followed her and I guess Dylan caught my eye because he said, "Yeah, she's pretty isn't she?"
"Yeah. She's really beautiful." I confessed.
It was the truth. She was beautiful in every way I could see.
"Well, she's my sister. Her name is Becca." He told me.
"Becca...that's a pretty name." I replied.
"That's what I think to but she won't believe me. We're twins, so we have this special bond."
"Why is she sitting all the way in the back? There's seats up here." I asked, confused.
Dylan just smirked and said, "She's shy. Becca likes to keep to herself. She doesn't let anyone in. She's just not a social type of girl."
I sat in my seat just thinking about her and about how I was going to break her walls.

The final bell rang and I scrambled to gather my books. I found my locker and opened it, gathering all the homework I had stashed there throughout the day. I was just about to leave when I saw Becca coming down the hallway. She was slouched over with her messenger bag thrown across her shoulder. She was moving quickly because if she didn't walk quick, the bullies would come for her. She walked past me and stopped for a minute, turned around and said something to me.
"You're Dylan's new friend, right?" She asked.
"Y-Yeah, yeah I guess." I stammered out.
"This is Dylan's number. He wanted me to give it to you." Becca said, handing me a piece of paper.
"Thanks." I said quietly.
She turned on her heel and sped out of the building, leaving me starstruck.
'And to think...' I thought as I walked out with my heavy backpack. 'This was only my first day...'
