"I love you guys." Becca said in a quiet voice and immediately covered her mouth with her hand, blushing in the process.
"Awe sis I love you too!" Dylan joked, throwing his arm over her shoulder.
"Uh-yeah..." she muttered.
And before I knew it, she flew upstairs with her new bear and locked herself up in her room again. I let out a deep sigh.
"What's wrong?" Dylan asked with a smile.
I just looked at him with a look that told him, 'Do you really have to ask that?'
"Okay, okay I know you're mad at me for what I said earlier about you wanting to make out with her. But you're missing the point. She had fun with you...and I'm guessing from the grin on your face earlier, you enjoyed it too." he said as-a-matter-of-factly.
I just laughed and told him, "Yeah maybe. But she's so beautiful. She can easily get any guy, why would she like me?"
"Dude listen to me. I'm being serious." His voice had gotten deeper than his usual joking self.
His eyes were serious. To be honest, he was kinda creeping me out.
"She really likes you. She asks about you all the time wondering if you just might like her back, which you do by the way but she doesn't know that."
"Come on dude-"
"Don't 'dude' me right now. This is my sister we're talking about. She hasn't had her first kiss or a boyfriend of any kind. Just mindless crushes because all of the guys think she's depressed and mute. But I mean, who can blame her? Our parents are almost never home and when they are its on business. She would love to talk to our mom about the 'cute guys' but she can't. All she really has is me...and now you. You are head over heels for her and she really really likes you so what are you fucking waiting for? Just ask her out already! She needs you." Dylan had tears brimming in his eyes but being the tough guy he is, he choked them back.
I stayed silent for a minute.
"You really think she'd go out with me?" I said after what felt like forever.
"Yeah totally." He laughed with relief.
"Okay then." I said. "I'll ask her out."
*
"Hey! Becca!" I called.
She was standing across the hall by her locker. Her hair flew in the air as she flipped her head around.
"Luke?" She asked.
"Yeah it's me. Can you come with me for a minute?"
She sighed but closed her locker, picked up her bag, and followed me out onto the football field.
"What are we doing out here?" She asked, clearly annoyed.
"You'll see."
A huge smile was spreading across my face. Our school started at 7:45am so it was still colourful from the sunrise...it was still dark enough for twinkling lights. I positioned her so she was facing the bleachers but she couldn't see the bleachers because it was to far away and to dark.
"What are you doing?" She complained.
I just ran to the side of the field where I had placed a light switch for my brilliant plan to ask her out. She looked at me with a confused look.
"Just look towards the bleachers!" I said excitedly.
I took a deep breath and plugged the lights in. Her face lit up with amazement. Blue and green twinkling lights were spread out on the bleachers giving enough light for her to read the sign I had made earlier. She walked toward it, reading the sign as she went.
Becca,
This is kinda crazy but I'd be thrilled if you agreed to go on a date with me. I'm head over heels for you. What do you say?
-LukeShe stopped dead in her tracks, a smile forming on her face. She turned around to face me.
"Well?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.
"Yes. I would love to go on a date with you." She said smiling.
I dropped the light plug-in and ran towards her. When I got to her I wrapped my arms around her, picked her up, and spun her around. She was laughing and hugging me back.
I put her down and just stared at her.
"God, you're so beautiful."
She just smiled at me.
Heyyyy I know I know I know they're going on a date!!!!!!!! I thought they should get together sooner than later ;) anyways stay strong
